Rather than drawing conclutions on the prerelease, whitch is more of a proof of concept than a usable plugin read the first post to get an idea of where he is going with the plugin.

The prerelease was mostly just to show how the idea worked, and probably to get rid of some early buggies.

EDIT: Welcome to page 4, folks!

Page 4? Here it's at page 13...

Anyhow, too many pages to read through so sorry if this has been reported already.
DrO, have you noticed that after "installing" (that is, putting the .dll in the plugins folder) the plug-in and restarting Winamp, the Classic Visualization (those bars thingies) no longer work? After removing the plug-in from the plugins folder and restarting Winamp, they show up again.

* I haven't checked this is with Modern skins.

yup. we aready told him. It blocks the vis data for some strange reason... avs, milkdrop, or any other vis plugin won't work ether.

and about page 4: it's page 4 for me too. you must have it on 5 posts per page instead of 20. check out your control panel. (o, you winked. does that mean you already knew that?)

DrO, have you had a chance to look at my plugin yet ('playlist improver') ? I believe you said you will but it's no biggie if you don't.

Errrr... am I missing something here? Didn't you JUST quote the Please read link to DrO's email in DJ Egg's post above, where I think that was explained?

Anyway fingers crossed i should be back online in just over a week (just got a preliminary date of 9/12 for the line being connected). Until then i can be emailed if there are any issues with the plugins.
I'm pretty certain that DrO is referring to his personal home PC internet connection there and not his company, since he stated just before that... "The company have put a block on the winamp site indefinitely so i'm not going to be able to get access to the forums for a while."

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.

Well, this seem very promising and I hope that if it works right maybe it could be included as part of the winamp installation, as an option, like cd ripping and such.

@WhiteRayven: the idea was to show that a Winamp3 style playlist (or near enough) can be done.

there's a lot in there (especially #2)

* switching of playlist area (try shift+double-click on the sizebar!)
* ctrl+m to open an internet explorer window (showing things in the sidecar area)
* ctrl + '+' and ctrl + '-' basic support to increase font size
* right-click menu
* playlist button override and basic winamp integration
* integrated prefs page
* pressing 'space' to redisplay the current playing song
* display update on song change
* more...

reading through all of the thread and you'll find out what it does (i was good to keep frequent updates). work is starting back on this one (related to the work on the skinned winamp preferences plugin!)

with the loss of net access, plans went out of the window but i'm working on getting back on full coding of this one soon.

@maximumw: if a certain mod gets his wish then jtfe may make it

i saw a thead a few weeks back about the language pack thing.

as for a crossfader, it's in Winamp (you need to enable it in the Directsound plugin) and this had been mentioned manu times (quick search will provide )

Darren... it's not just Egg you know. I'd love to see it too. If you keep going as you have been I'm pretty sure a lot of what you do will be incorporated into future releases of 5.0 Final

But let's first concentrate I think on actually taking the first step... getting your plugins officially published at Winamp.com (after the new site comes on line of course).

Oh yeah. That's right. I do remember you saying that you were trying to find a decent host. Tell ya what... if you are interested I will allocate approximately 80 mb or so for you at my server (no charge of course). A subdomain and I'll arrange CGI access if need be as well (again no charge).

If interested, email me at webmaster@nunzioweb.com

Hell! I fully support everything you have been doing so why not?
And it's better than paying $$$ to a web hosting service (and no ads too).

They don't exist as of now (the Language Packs).

We still don't have the Lang SDK so we can't make them yet (or so I think but who am I?)

here's that language pack link i said about link

for the directsoud thing, you need to open the preferences and go to 'output'. then open the 'directsound' item and from there you can add basic crossfading. there has been many posts about this (a quick search will give you a better description of what to do ).

Another kudo for DrO

I am one of the many who have missed the "Alt-Click" playlist feature in WA3. But I find that DrO's "Jump to file extra" plugin - as rough as it is in this early beta form - is already a great replacement. I just love the idea of being able to select a bunch of tracks (according to my current mood) and then queue them all up by simply tapping the Q key. For me this works even better than the "Alt-Click" in WA3.

Can hardly wait for the final version. Thanks to DrO!

the only real thing was a partial fix for the editor font resizing. i know it's been a bit quiet on the dev front but i needed a break from the code so i can work out how best to implement a few things. as well i'm working on the skinned preferences plugin which is for testing out and improving skin handling for this plugin.

i'll put out preview 3 at some stage soon to see if my skinning fixes work since the skinning appearance of this plugin is quite important to get it right early on so i can then get on with all the meaty features.
