I'd like to see some nicer icons for the Tray controls - the included ones are.. un-winamp like, if that makes sense

Weeeeeeeee

Been using RC-8 for a few hours now, and it is slick -- if anything it feels slightly faster/lighter than the previous beta on my system (P4 3Ghz, 512, WinXP, blah).

Love the new preferences -- really clear and organised, so congrats. I haven't had long enough to play with the ML to form a strong opinion, but so far so good. The fonts in the playlist editor seem a little pixelated when scaled -- is this specific to me, or a known issue?

Edit: pixalated in winshade mode, not when opened.

Now if the Nullsoft goods would please please please implement further ID3 frame parsing so I could take advantage of my meticulously tagged collection, I would be in cloud-9.

/me bows down to the Nullsoft gods and offers his first born.

LW.

Edit: Is there any chance of a winshade mode for the ML?

DJ...you missed this from before, too:

"One small problem...if I click on a file in the media library, right click, hit select all, nothing highlights until I change window focus...but everything is "highlighted" in the sense that they are all selected."

My skins: Sony MPFX3-WA5 (Just for WA 5.x!!) and Sony MPFX3.

Yeah, I've noticed that.
Someone also reported it in the new 5.0rc8 Bug Reports thread in the Bugs forum, well . . . very similar issues, but not that exact one.

Notice how after you go back and try click one of the hi-lighted entries,
it becomes unselected, but all others are still selected,
but in reality, it's the only entry which is selected,
and all the others are actually unselected
(which becomes apparent when you move focus to another window and then look at library).

Double-Dutch? Or did that make sense?

Seems to me like selection is inverted or something.
Or not updating in real time ???
Most weird!

Definitely...part of the problem, at least, is that it's not updating in real time.

blah... This thread is just too long to search for this post-by-post, so I am gonna act newbish and ask anyways.

Is there any way for me to rate a song via the PL rather than the ML? Can this be added to the wishlist if not possible already?

No...I asked about that. We really need some way to rate the currently playing song easily. Something in the context menu would make the most sense. It could be a expandable menu item: "Rating >" and would expand to offer the choices. It could be put right under "Bookmarks >" in the context menu.

It's not a WinXP-style balloon tip. It's a feature built into the modern skin.
It can be disabled via: config drawer -> options -> notifications

They're still just black & white, and they look very clunky.

Also, they don't appear in the right order - they appear as:

Eject | Next | Stop | Play/Pause | Back

It would be nicer to have them appear like in the WA5 interface:

Back | Play/Pause | Stop | Next | Eject

...maybe with stop/eject bound as one button so that if you Stop when no file is playing, you get asked to open a file...

W00t... This is so cool... An update of windows (2k - XP) and winamp (b2 - rc8) in the same day. I am very pleased with this version.

I second that one very much. That would be very useful to me, and I spose a lot of people.

You guys removed the maki source for the modern skin in RC8? Why!? I was really hoping to use it as a learning tool while updating some of my skins to have more WA5 features. Since lack of documentation has always being a problem with MAKI, referencing other skins and especially the official ones has always been a great way of learning techniques.

I hope this isn't permanent. As a WA3 skinning enthusiast I have a lot to contribute, but not having access to WA5 MAKI documentation or sample code is a hinderance.

I have noticed one small bug. When using the popup song notification, mp3's show the song time, but WAV files do not. I have not tried other file types.

There's eastereggs hidden in the maki files. But they will be releasing a skinning developers kit, which should hopefully included non-easteregged versions of the sources.

There's old code in winamp3 development for these. The notification in modern was written by francis from scratch and not yet available, but both I and another coder released versions in the same thread.
Let's see if I can find it...

Or make a setting for it; count song for played, when played longer than ....seconds/minutes

BTW, Great new features in lib!!!

It seems like there is some extra numbers added in the playlist.
(refer to pic)

Seems to happen when I
uncheck use ML data for title formating
update ID3 info in PL(numbers appear)
check use ML data for title formating
update ID3 info in PL(numbers disappear)

Advanced Title Formatting string

as it stands right now, the tray icon controls are only 16x16@16 colors, and only black and white are used.

I think the reason they look slightly better in XP is they seem too blend a bit better with the XP style taskbar (primarily the blue style)

if someone can come up with a 256 or better version of the tray icons then anyone can use their favorite icon replacer tool to replace the icons

However, Wa5 rc8 ML is still alot faster than in previous betas, so it's good enough..

There is NO way they can support all those skins through the cracked uxitheme.dll

Only the main ones Windows shipps with.

They can't support non supported stuff, makes no sense.

Actually, I am using windowsblinds.

Im not saying they need to support it, Im just saying that it is foolish to design the icons with only the one specific color scheme in mind. Its easy to create icons that look good under most any circumstance (like the other winamp icons). The current icons look bad under evry circumstance...

You guys can easily use a resource editor, ResBuild from TGTSoft for example, open up gen_tray.dll in the WA5 Plugin's folder and then change up the icons on your own.

My god... rc8 is so much cooler than beta2. I love the fading opacity! the unlinked scaling and opacity settings are perfect! The song notifications in the modern skin are very cool! (though, default timings are much too long imho.)

hehe... was playing with the "nullsoft" easter egg, but wasn't playing any music, so i thought it didn't work. then i played some music... and i thought wa was f-ed up! restarted, it didn't work. finally figured it out though. very nice! not that i'd ever want to use it at all times though. would get annoying.

good work NS! can't wait till it's done and released so you can put all these features back into Wasabi Player! :up
