Top 5 Movies Of All Time

couldn't find this with the search, so . . .

What are your top five movies of all time (according to originality, repeat watchability, acting, any sort of meaning [whether personal, social, etc], & overall comprehensiveness- add any other factors you wish)

here's my list (which took me forever to narrow down)

1) Double Life of Veronique (Kieslowski)
2) Three Colors: Red (Kieslowski)
3) The Four Hundred Blows (Truffaut)
4) Band of Outsiders (Godard)
5) The Third Man (Welles)

*movies i have to mention because on a different day they might have made my list: Passion of Joan of Arc, Breathless, Dark City, Bullets Over Broadway, Le Mepris, A Clockwork Orange, Basquiat, Metropolis, 8 1/2 . . . this could go on forever (lets see your list)

In no particular order:
  1. Bois Moi
Banned from theaters. Was quite a good movie. it was a bit hard though.
  2. Kids
It's been a while when I saw this one. But is has made a big impression on me. I just can't image the story, it's so unreal. On the other hand, I can imagine that such things can happen nowedays.
  3. Gone in 60 seconds
What can I say about it. It's just good.
  4. Juressic Park 1
    My favourite of all time
  5. Blade
I just can't wait for part II to be ready!

1st: Blade Runner
2nd: Matrix
3rd: Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
4th: Dark City

If it was made into a decent film, then Larry Niven's "Ringworld" would have been at the top.

This is just a quick list, I'll probably come up with something different tomorrow morning.

6. The Hurricane
This one was a bit long. But that was worth it. A very good movie.

Let's see..
No order

Gattaca - Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman in a genetically discriminating future. What more can you ask for?

O,Brother Where Art Thou? - Homer's Odyssey in bluegrass form I love bluegrass and studied the Odyssey in HS.

and Terry Gilliam's fantasies of lifestages trilogy:

Time Bandits - The fantasies of a young boy
Brazil - The fantasies of a man in the prime of his life
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen - blahblah of an old man

And about 70 other movies that are great too. These are just the top on my mind right now.

-=G=-

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

I'm going to knock of Das Boot, and switch it with Threesome. Another Lara Flynn Boyle flick which deserves at minimum honorable mention is Body of a Woman.

ok then, let's stert at the top:

1.The matrix - excellent storyline, well acted, hackers, action, great fx, kickass soundtrack, and amazing dialogue
2.Swordfish - see above (minus the dialogue)
3.Pulp fiction - "cool in the gang"
4.the shawshank redemption - great cinematics
5.Kalifornia - really clever-in a cool subtle sort of way

I could probably go on, but that'd bore you even more. I'm pleased to see that the Matrix features in most 'o your lists, it really does rock.
s@@crements - when you say star wars I do you mean "a new hope" or "phantom menace".
jarjarbinks should have been put down before filming began.
