Editing main.dat

What program would I use to manually open and edit main.dat and main.idx? I'm trying to create a launcher that will change the drive letter for the paths of the files in the media library depending on what drive letter the files are assigned.

None. The library database uses a proprietary format. I have tried in the past to hex edit paths but then caused Winamp to crash on load. You can attempt it yourself but do it on a copy.

So there's pretty much no way I can automate the process of repathing the files?

not without someone using the available nde source code to allow for editing of the database (and i'm not aware of anything personally which does that but then again i've not really looked for something like it)
