Waveout or Directout

Hi,

Im pretty new to all this.
Im just wondering, what is better to use for the output from winamp. Waveout or the direct sound?

Im running windows xp. And have a soundblaster live 5.1

Also i heard about upgrading the waveout modules with a beta one written by someone called steve on a thread on here. Is it beneficial todo this?

Cheers All

Hi just another question lol

Why isnt it recommended to put your winamp to process at high and above?

Or can i disregard that and put it above?

Errmmm . . . who's this Steve you're talkin' about?
Did you mean Peter? As in Peter Pawlowski, author of THE wave, midi and mod input plugins (v2.77+) and the WaveOut & DirectSound Output plugins (v2.79)

The official update patch is here
This includes the latest versions of all PP's plugins.
Further Info

As for process priority class.... "normal" is the recommended setting.
You can try "Higher" if you wish, but if you start experiencing any problems you should return it to "normal". Time Critical is NOT recommended and imho shouldn't even be an option. It's been known to cause complete freeze-ups/crashes/etc. (very cpu-intensive)
