Goodbye Mr. Dressup

Yes, as my topic says, it's time to say goodbye to mr. dressup.
those of you who grow in canada probably know who i'm talking about.

yesterday morning Ernie Coombs, aka Mr. Dressup, died of complications from a stroke.

this is sad, sad news, and, because of all that has been going on, hasn't really had that much attention.

ernie coombs was one of the best childrens entertainers on tv for a long time, and was on from the mid-60s (i think) until 1996
he received the order of canada soon after

(for those who don't know who he is, think mr. rogers, but a lot less disturbing.)

just thought i'd say a little something about him, i loved that show when i was younger

I am sad to hear of your loss. I never saw his shows, but if he made children happy, he must have been a good guy.

I don't mean to be so dark, but pedophiles also make children happy. Just goes to show you generalizations aren't all too useful.

Argh!! Shame RM!!!! Pedophiles may make some children "happy" temporarily. It's more likely that they are confused than happy. The longterm effect this behavior has on these children is far from happiness. Most of these poor kids become emotionally unstable depressed adults. Trust me on this one.

It goes without saying that physical happiness is completely different from emotional happiness. However, we shouldn't equate people who make children happy as being saints.

I agree. But no one in this thread has equated "Mr Dressup" as being a saint. Just a good guy.

Then let me restate that:
We shouldn't equate people who make children happy as being good guys.

You know damn well what Missy meant when she said what she did.
She meant anyone who make children happy in a decent way, not the way that you want to be made happy.

That's probably going to naturally happen in time anyway. Just don't attempt to sexually molest me.

good thing your not a penguin randman, cuz if RM did molest you, you might turn into me. that would be wierd. As for Mr.Dressup /Mr. Rogers, all people who entertain (better?) children are just scary. btw: is Mr. Rogers dead?
