by far the dumbest question of the day

uh........ how do i edit a playlist (is there a tutorial or something)?

cuz i open a playlist and it takes up the whole window. fine.
i open the library to add a file and IT takes up the whole window.

there's never 2 panes where i can select files to add to it.

what am i missing (other than a brain)?
