DSP and server problem

I have installed the shoutcast server on a Linux webserver then i launch it using an ssh client. But the dsp plug doesn't succeed in connecting to it ?
I wanted to know if anybody else faced this problem and if there is somewhere precise where the shoutcast server must be installed on the webserver, especially concerning the sub-domaines? thanks for your help.
The server is installed in the following directory:
/home/popo/public_html/radio

Did you change the DNAS variables srcIP and destIP from ANY?

Is your DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo on the same machine?

What exactly are you entering for "Address" and "Port" in the DSP?

For the address i've put the website's IP and for the port i've put 8000.

Do you know if in Linux the directory in which we install the server is important ? and if it is, in which directory do you advise me to install the server. And do we need to be Root?

The directory does not matter. You do not need to be root. Is port 8000 open? If not, try another port. Ports below 1024 need root access.

lsof -i
nmap -sT -O (insert ip address here)

any of those three will work

The 8000 port is open now. I get to pull the server's web page but still can't connect to it. :'( Any ideas.
I think that the 8001 port is still closed can it be the problem.

"server unavailable, disconnecting" means folks are connecting to a sourceless DNAS.

Since the DNAS doesn't have anything to hand off to listeners, they get disconnected.

Fix:
Send a source to the DNAS before having listeners connect.
