Going to the pub, drinking a few pints, then going to Pizza Hut, and pigging out with your girlfriend, and best friends is a great way to celebrate the end of school for Christmas!!

Phisherman's Tip #2

Don't lie about your connection on Napster

Story behind this tip: Ppl on napster say they have ISDN or something like that so people will regard them higher when they really have a 33.6 or something like that so I try to download something and it takes forever when T3 is supposed to be fast.

eh, heh.

GramicciGirl's tip #1

Lie about your connection on napster.

That way when you really do have a fast connection, no one wants to download from you, thus, not slowing you down.

not if you have a slow connection. then if you think you're downloading from a T3 but in reality you're downloading from a 33.6 I get really pissed off.

or $5 at BestBuy, HHGregg, etc. HHGregg is my fav store. They have never screwed me. In fact, I got a $150 stereo for $100 because the box was ripped a bit. No problems with it whatsoever. Listening to it now.

That's why I said, "If You Really DO have a fast connection, then no one will want to download from you." I didn't say the other way around, because frankly I agree. I suppose I should modify the wording of the tip for the intuition impared... JK. Lie about your connection speed on napster if you have a fast connection. Better?

All in all, lying about your connection on Napster only fools the more naive users. Much of the time, you have ping times available for comparison. Personally, I just start 3 or 4 simultaneous downloads, and see what speed each connection settles to. After 15-30 seconds, I delete all but the fastest download. I rarely pay any attention to other users' posted connection speeds.

I've figured that most people on napster who have a T3 are lying, so I usually go for cable, b/c they tend to be the most honest.

eh, heh.

phisherman -

Yeah, "T3" people usually have dialups, and "14.4" people usually have 56K/cable/DSL/T1 connections.

Napster: Dont Share, works nicley, but is mean, but your only option on 56k. Cable sux b/c they always t/e on me. 14.4 with ping of n/a are the fastest. DSL are usually good as is 128k ISDN. This is a 56k perspective though.
