Winamp Drops Out On New Laptop

Never had any problems with Winamp over the 15 years or more ive been using it. On various machines some poor.
Just bought a band new HP Laptop and downloaded the latest version of Winamp. After install im having two problems. Firstly Winamp is freezing and droping out/disappearing when adding media to the library (I've set it as the default music player in windows 10).
So I tried to just play a single file by right clicking and play in Winamp but the song plays for 20 or so seconds and again Winamp drops out.
Anyone any ideas what could be wrong ? Thanks.

It might be the version: 5.8 beta
Try the last non-beta version: http://meggamusic.co.uk/winamp/Winamp_Download.htm

Windows 10 Home, 64 bit, Winamp 5.666, Bento Skin

What kind of files? Mp3? Vbr? Cbr?

Run them thru mp3val.

PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/
BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks
Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting
Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing
