excellent, thanks for testing that out.

add yp2debug=1 to you configuration file so you can see what the error returned from the YP connection response is please. i'd guess it's an error code 400 where the YP cannot see your machine i.e. you need to make sure you have the correct opened ports.

and because the connection to the YP has failed, that is why the client using the BASS library cannot connect to the server instance.

I_E_P_U_R_A_S: i've replied in the sc_trans thread about the calendar thing (try to keep the correct things to the correct thread please).

as for the connection issue, make sure you've not got another instance of 'publicserver' present in your configuration files as something is setting that to either 'default' or 'always' and causing the server to try to connect to the YP. that's the only thing i can currently think off which would cause it to make a public connection.

sc_trans1 => sc_serv2

Hello,
just installed sc_serv2 [aka SHOUTcast DNAS 2 (Build 10)]
on my Lenny Debian 32bits

I'm not using sc_trans as transcoder, but i need to know
which data i've to send to sc_serv2 to work properly ?
(i'm using Liquidsoap)
----------------------
MY basic_conf :

code:
maxuser=50
listenertime=0
autodumpusers=1
songhistory=20
autodumpsourcetime=40
srcip=any
dstip=any
yport=80
ypaddr=yp.shoutcast.com
ypPath=/yp2
yp2=1
publicserver=always
allowrelay=0
allowpublicrelay=0
portbase=8132
password=xxxxx
streamid=1
streampath=/test.mp3
namelookups=0

--------------------------
sc_serv_public.conf

code:
include=/etc/shoutcast2/sc_serv_basic.conf
publicserver=always
streamauthhash=mysecretkeyqdfgqd

-------------------------

I get this logs:
code:

I msg:[MAIN] PID: 32244
I msg:[MAIN] Loaded config from /etc/shoutcast2/sc_serv_basic.conf
I msg:[MAIN] Calculated CPU count is 2
I msg:[MAIN] Starting 2 network threads

E msg:[src 127.0.0.1:39081 sid=1] connection rejected. Bad icy header string [icy-icq:]

I'm currently sending this data to shoutcast :

out = output.shoutcast.mp3(restart=true, host="localhost", port=8132, password="xxxx", name="xxxxx 256kbs Shoutcast2 testing", genre="tech - house", url="http://www.xxxxxx:8132", public=true, bitrate=256, samplerate=44100, flux_final)

shamankick: i've never heard of 'Liquidsoap' though based on the error, it's not passing all of the required information to the sc_serv2 instance based on the issue with 'icy-icq' - if need be make sure that it is set to N/A in 'Liquidsoap' if that can be done (or however your source works).

TXYCL: you need to extract the files from the archive into a folder and then following the getting_started guide though there is a newer work in progress version available at http://dev.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcast..._Started_Guide (until i get it up onto the main wiki) which should be a bit more detailed. however if you're not used to using the console then you need to read up on using that before trying to run the SHOUTcast tools.

Thanks for the heads-up. Its been years since I've monkeyed w/a SCast setup and I just didn't want to blow it up if drastic changes had replaced the older files.
all looks similar.

coskel: despite a few things, generally an old DNAS v1 setup can be quickly changed to work with the v2 DNAS though http://bogproghome.hopto.org/config_...g_builder.html (which is being worked on at the moment) will make it easier to setup a DNAS v2 setup (or so is hoped ).

bryan007: it's because you're trying to save into to the program files folder which is generally locked by UAC on Windows 7. either choose a different folder for the configuration files or use a text editor running with administrator permissions to allow you to save the file(s) in the current location.

additionally, if you've completely new to the SC tools then in combination with the config_builder and http://nunzioweb.com/daz/SHOUTcast/c...ng_started.txt (newer version of what is in the distro) should make it a bit easier to get going (as long as you know how to use the command-line otherwise you really need to learn how to use that first before starting).

Hey guys,

I'm having some issues with sc_serv crashing on Linux 32-bit (CentOS 5) after upgrading to the latest dnas build. The server will stay running for an average of about 1 hour and then the daemon just dies. I see no error messages in my sc_serv.log file, indicating that the daemon is terminating abruptly. Sc_trans always remains running after the crash. This was not occurring with the last beta drop of the dnas.

What debugging options should I enable in my sc_serv.conf to troubleshoot this issue? Note that this is occurring when using either yp1 or yp2 protocol.

Here is the final output from sc_serv before the crash:

617 2011-01-11 02:14:50 I msg:[ADMINCGI] title update [Legowelt - Tower Of The Gipsies - The Tower]

diversity: the issue is due to a bug in the non-Windows versions when handling Winamp 5.x clients prior to Winamp 5.60 and some metadata conversion to map it to an older format. i've sent you a pm with a link to a test build to try to confirm if that fixes things for you.

I'll be extremely happy once the bug I reported earlier is fixed. *hint hint*.

But actually, the reason I'm making another post, is a suggestion.
The message "Server Status: Server is currently down." confuses so many people.

I work for a company that provides SHOUTcast hosting, and so many people think that the message means that their server is literally down. This should be changed to something such as "Server Status: No stream source is connected."

seriously ... I think to be a shoutcast broadcaster one of the minimum requirements is an IQ above room temperature, and at least a basic knowledge of networking

Is it just me or are shoutcast users getting dumber?

i did say in my other post that it's more likely if there is going to be a change to follow in the release after the one that i'm working on at the moment so it's not forgotten (just one man can only do so much ).

i had been thinking about something like that based on the posts i've seen when people cannot get things running (though i can sort of agree with jaromanda's view) so will have a think on the best approach as that page can be shown even if there isn't a stream specified for the stream id being queried so changing to what you've mentioned wouldn't necessarily be best.

related to this, last night i changed the part after the 'server status:' string on the summary / admin pages for public streams to be:

'Server Status: Server is currently up and public (YP connected)'
or
'Server Status: Server is currently up and public (no YP connection)'

which i'm hoping will make it a bit easier to see if a YP connection has been made especially useful for YP2 connections where the server will not allow connections until it has a YP connection.

just had a play and have gone with
Quote:
Server is currently down.
There is no source connected or no stream is configured for stream #X
where X is the stream id being viewed so there might be a chance of connecting that is what needs to be checked. is the wording ok or needs tweaking?

Works for me. Even just "Server is currently down. There is no source connected." would be fine. (As some people won't know what the "stream #X" means).

the problem with catering to the lowest common denominator is that the lowest common denominator doesn't know their ass from their elbow so chances are they wouldn't know what even the most basic status message means!

a little "too much" information is better than not enough

xD true enough. But anyone that knows what they're doing doesn't really need the "stream #X" information on the status page anyways.

i've done the stream #x part as that covers when someone say is trying to access index.html?sid=99 which if it's not setup or if the requirestreamconfig option is enabled would mean it's an invalid stream. plus am also thinking from a support basis where if they just copy+paste that then it's a bit easier to work out why it might not be working since if the sid is high then it's likely an incorrect page being viewed and so on. like jaromanda, a little "too much" information is better than not enough

I have read elsewhere that SHOUTcast 2.0 does not support the updinfo method

( HTTP request - like this
h**p://IP:PORT/admin.cgi?pass=a&password=x&mode=updinfo&song=The%20Beatles%20-%20Hey%20Jude )

If true ... can this be put in for backward compatibility? It would not have to expose all of the new meta capability (although that would also be nice).

updinfo is supported (was missed out of the docs but will be noted in the next release) though it only works against the metadata already in the stream and will not take it externally. i guess there was a reason why it was removed as part of the v2 DNAS.

[edit]
i've just tried it using what you've provided and it still works with the &song param.

new version released can be found in http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=326248
locking this thread so issues, etc (if still present) can be posted against the new supported version.
