Ok I tried your ml_orb_557x.exe with no change but just uninstalled everything and downloaded fresh copy and reinstalled and everything works now. I can go to preferences without Winamp crashing and can close it without it giving a memory error. Great! Now to try Remote from work again.

We're having a problem similar. It's saying the NSCRT.dll can not be found. I've tried what the thread suggested to find the .dll and place it into the root folder. I've still got a problem. It's not showing the .dll is missing but it's showing the win amp blank.

My OS is windows XP64.
I have also tried it on my laptop which is windows 7. ( same problem)
I've uninstalled and re-installed. No luck with that either.

PC or Motherboard make/model:Asus
CPU & RAM: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 300HZ with 8 GIG ram at 300HZ
Sound card or chip: Audigy
Videocard: nVidia GeForce 909
Windows OS: XP64 professional
DirectX version: DirectX 11
Newest winamp available

I really am having no luck at all with this. Is there anyone that has any information that can help me?

Help

I am getting extremely frustrated here. I have tried to post this twice now and once it shows up then it's gone, so if it shows up three times I apologize.

I am having the exact same problem with this thing. I have a clean install on a brand new computer. While it seems my situation is slightly different. The error message comes up twice but I can make it go away but every time I want to do something else it pops up again. I have not had it crash as of yet. I have had to uninstall this thing four times already and I really do now want to do it again. I was told that this was the best player to get so I did, but I have had nothing but problems from the get go. from installation problems to this missing .dll file. I spent good money on this thing and I am really getting to the point where I am just going to go get something else. I do not want to start over again. If someone can walk me through how to fix this without starting over again I will try to do it. otherwise I am just done with it.

use the standalone version of the tool referenced in http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins to produce a list of the plug-ins in your install (as you're have a dll dependency issue the normal plug-in reporter will have issues finding). once you've got a plug-in listing attached to this thread we can then look to see what may be causing the issue.

the standalone version of the tool is available at http://www.nunzioweb.com/daz/files/nunz.exe as the plug-in version only shows plug-ins which could be fully loaded, if something is dependent upon nscrt.dll then it won't be correctly loading hence the need for the standalone tool to do a report.

as you've posted the plug-in version of the report, it'll make it easier to see what's different (i hope).

the lists should be in the root of the winamp folder as my_plugin_list_ext.txt (the important one) and my_plugin_compat_list.txt

Generating Winamp plugin file report for Winamp version: 5.58 Build 2985 [FINAL_2010_0712_160456]
Generated by 'One for Nunz (External) v2.0' on 9/10/2010 at 1:18:42 PM

If you see `Loading test failed' against an entry then there is a likely chance that the
plugin will not be correctly loaded by Winamp (this is often due to a missing dependancy).
Visit http://www.dependencywalker.com for an app which allows you to see what is missing.

Listing of installed input plugins (in_*) and the relevent apis which they indicate that they
support to allow you to see how well the plugin is likely to work with different Winamp builds.

Note: This is a best guess at how well the plugins shown should work with Winamp and until
you actually use the plugins with Winamp in normal use you will not otherwise know.

A * means the plugin has support for metadata queries on a file (2.9+)
A # means the plugin supports saving modified metadata via Winamp apis (2.9+)
A % means the plugin supports the unified file info dialog and a '%+' shows it adds its own pages (5.5+)
A || means the plugin supports the api_decoder used for transcoding/replaygain/etc (5.34+)

A || means the plugin supports the api_decoder used for transcoding/replaygain/etc (5.34+)
and '(Seekable)' indicates extra support in processing of audio data via api_decoder

A {} around a symbol means the plugin supports the unicode version of the api

Summary:

'One for Nunz (External)' found 16 installed input plugins in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Plugins'
93% (15) of the plugins installed provide the needed 5.x api ("winampGetExtendedFileInfo(..)
or winampGetExtendedFileInfoW(..)") to allow the formats provided by the plugins to work with
most of Winamp 5.x's features (more important with higher versions).

enc_aacplus.dll (517 kb) Loading test failed
that would be the cause and as you've installed the ShoutCast dsp plug-in that would make sense as it installs an older version of the enc_aacplus.dll instead of leaving the newer version in place (the old version dates to Winamp v5.1 from what i remember).

you can either remove enc_aacplus.dll or re-install Winamp and the installer should then update the plug-in dll.

I removed the enc_aacplus.dll file, and it appears that everything is working. Is there anything else that I need to do, like add a new file or anything like that.

if you need to encode files to aac then you'd need to re-run the Winamp installer or if you use 7-zip to find the current version and manually extract that into the plug-ins folder.

I don't think I will need to, hey, I really appreciate your help on this, it is a huge load off my mind knowing I will not have to uninstall it again....I do have one more question..why does the shoutcast source not remember my settings, is there a way for me to have it remember them so I don't have to reenter them every time I wish to broadcast?

it's a known issue with the Shoutcast DSP plug-in in that it doesn't use a Winamp api which tells the plug-in where it should save it's settings to (which is an issue with Vista / Win7 due to not being able to access the program files folder without elevation. it's discussed a bit towards the end of this thread http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=322181.

the simplest option is to run Winamp as an administrator, setup the dsp plug-in as you'd like it and that should then make it so when you run Winamp normally it'll use those settings, just won't be able to change them... until either it's fixed natively in the dsp plug-in or someone sorts out a wrapper to fix the issue.

I only have one account set up on this computer, so my main one is administrator. Unless there is something I need to do within winamp itself I am not too sure how to do anything else. I did look at the thread as you suggested and if you are workin on a way to fix the problem I would be happy to use the wrapper feature if it will allow me to not have to reenter the info every time I wanna log in. I should posted this over there huh....oh well...too late....lol

The out_lame plugin (winamp_out_lame.bin_v164.exe) also needs NSCRT.dll !

But there must be another bug in this plugin...
Starting converting to MP3, a window appears like "winamp has detected a problem and must be closed" (original text in german: "Winamp hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden."). Until I didn't close this window, the convert process is still working... But if I click on this window "close", winamp ends.

I'm working with current version 5.581 on windows XP sp3. Crashed module:
AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.5.8.2985 ModName: out_lame.dll
ModVer: 1.6.4.0 Offset: 0001702b
