GlassAmp

GlassAmp v0.55
  • Semi-transparent. Blends in with any desktop
  • 16 Color Schemes
  • Thin design for keeping at top of screen over titlebars.
  • Buttons and sliders accessible from very top pixel for ease of use when docked.
  • Visualizations behind entire skin.
  • Only basic controls.
Changes for v0.55:
  • New Font
  • New color scheme (Cinnamon)
  • Visualizations change color with schemes
  • New sliders
  • Caustic "shadow"
To do:
  • Update the preview.png
  • Redo menus
  • Skin PL, ML, and EQ (things I rarely use)
  • More colors
  • Visualizations button. (For now, you click blank areas such as to the right of the title text. I put in a tooltip for it.)
  • Start thinking about a 'normal mode'
  • Learn Maki like a stud

that's a pretty cool skin. I like the color varieties too.
Great idea.

Didn't you release this a few days ago in a different thread where we had a small discussion about alpha blending the popup menus and such?

Um, this was supposed to be a reply in that other thread, but I guess I pressed 'New Topic' instead of 'Reply' or something. I'm a big dumb dumbhead. No matter, I'll start fresh from this thread and I'll try to get used to reading the buttons I press next time. What, me, newbie?

really really good the one I've been searching for long, well, there's just ONE thing that could be better: a playlist who "fit" with the skin, or something that pop-up of, like some guys haev done with the equliazer... but I know you'll add things on it, that's a good suggestion I think.
so I was used to this:

and with your that's better:

so bravo and I'm impatient to see what you'll make with this

p.s. I posted this message, that's what I think about skins, thanks to sanosuke to refer me to this post

--- UPDATE ---
by sliding and pop-up things I refer to this:

this skin is good but a bit too big and... no playlist minimizable :P

I really haven't had any time to work on this, but I've changed it enough in the past couple weeks to warrant a 0.58 release. Whoopie.

I'd love to finish this skin (EQ, PL, etc), but with school and family issues that never cease, I'm afraid that this isn't something I can (or should) be focused on at the moment. Thanks for all the input so far and if anyone wants to add features to the skin on their own, they're more than welcome.

GlassAmp v0.58

--Changes for v0.58:
  • Darkened area behind text for better visibility
  • Buttons and sliders glow when mouse is on top of them
  • Menus look nicer now
  • Changed the caustic shadow under skin
  • New preview.png
  • Fixed bug which caused GlassAmp to act weird when docking

Finally had some time to mess with this skin again. I redid the background design so it looks like a long pill. Maybe LongPill would be a better name for it... nah. Here you go:

GlassAmp v0.60

Changes for v0.60:
  • Totally redid background graphic
  • Tweaked old color themes, added 5 more for a total of 21 color themes
  • Color themes now effect all windows
  • New open button
  • New preview.png

looks nice but it looks like it is for 2000/xp only? it looks bad without alphablending enabled.

GlassAmp v0.61

When I started working on this skin, I was unaware that Win98 didn't support Desktop Alpha. Sorry about that.

So anyway, I checked it out in Win98 and I noticed that the font was all wrong. It was supposed to be Arial, which worked fine in Win2k, but it looked more like Courier in 98. Almost unreadible, actually. See, I was trying to keep the file size down by just using a system font, but oh well. So in 0.61 I've included a font in the skin now (which looks much better, IMO). It does bump the file size up by 40k, though. Also, the shadow is now visible without Desktop Alpha. This looks especially nice with the brighter color themes like Cantaloupe, Orange Juice, Ocean, Bubble Gum, Rose Water, etc.

GlassAmp v0.61

--Changes for v0.61:
  • Shadow now visible without Desktop Alpha
  • Changed to a packaged font (Gothic.ttf), which is easier on the eye
