Winamp Visualisations from external input?
Hi All, i dont know about the rest of you, but i think winamp's AVS is second-to-none!
I dont know much about the workings of it i just enjoy the pretty pictures. Im throwing a houseparty on friday and was wondering if there is a way for the AVS to work from an external audio input -namely my Numark mixer via my laptops line-in port. Does winamp have to be playing the media in order for the visualisation component to spring to life?? It would be so cool if i could have the AVS display visuals via my laptop/ projector in realtime whilst i mix. If theer's anyway of doing such a thing and you know how, you will make me and the other 50 or so people have an extremely trippy night! My hardware- 2 Pioneer CDJ1000MK3's, Numark FX5000 mixer, P4, 1GB RAM, radeon 9800 pro GFX, LAPtop and a projector. Tnx in advance, cyon |

first of all, make sure you have the winamp full install with the linein plugin enabled.
plug your mixer into your linein make sure your windows recording source is set to your linein port. open winamp ctrl+l now enter "linein://" without the "" and hit play if your playing music, the spectrum analyser(or oscilloscope) should be working. visualisation plugins should work aswell. |

The Full version is free. Only the Pro version costs money.
You probably already have the Full version though, seeing that you have the AVS plugin installed (which also comes only with the Full/Pro version). Unless you unchecked Line-in Support in the installer options, you should be fine. |

avs editor(off right click menu)-->settings
transitions for transition settings. presets/hotkeys for transition timing. |

anyone know if it is possible for avs to render through video card rather than cpu? I like it but in fullscreen 1280x1024 the framerate drops to like 7 fps.
