Winamp 5.56 (5.5.6.2512) - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins)
Skin: Winamp Modern Windows OS: Windows Server 2008 x64 SP2 (US) System specs: ASUS WS Revolution core i7, 12 GB ram Video Card: Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT (geforce v191.66), Nvidia Quadro FX 3800 (quadro v191.66) Soundmax integrated digital audio driver v7.0.0.1 DirectX 10.1 Plugin: Directsound (2.49) When trying to play video files I get the error: Error creating DirectSound buffer Error code: 80070057 I'm not sure how to reproduce the error, as I haven't had this problem with other installations of server 2008 (SP2) on this same hardware. I have tried uninstalling/installing winamp, and also installing without the sonic stuff. I have tried installing 5.552 and get the same error. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling my sound card drivers then uninstalling/reinstalling winamp. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling K-Lite Codec pack (mega), then reinstalling winamp. I tried installing the latest (12/2009) release of K-Lite codec mega. I have also tried uninstalling directsound, taking the directsound plugin file from an installation of WS08 x64 SP2 (from this same hardware) that didn't have the problem, and installing that file. No matter what I try, I still get the directsound buffer error when I try and play video files. All audio files (including FLAC) play fine. Does anyone have a work around, or relevant info they can forward me? I really want to get this error fixed... |

Well, reinstalling winamp doesn't seem to work. I tried both the current version (5.56) and a previous version (5.552), as noted. What should I try to do?

The latest version is 5.572
If the problem persists then we will need more information: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=161361#video Your error will be being caused by a misconfiguration of whatever DirectShow Filter you're using, eg. if you've configured it to output in 7.1 surround mode with 5.1 speakers. |
