Are people just hanging around on the main forum just to "Be here" because it seems the fourms are dead and there are like 20 people on the "who's in the forum now" list...

i suspect there's a timeout on it - if you go to the forum, you'll come up as being there for 10-15min.

Yeah I often just have my browser open on GD even if I'm not doing anything on it and am busy doing other things. Also I sometimes leave my browser at work open on it, just locking the workstation when I leave, so I probably look like I'm here all the time when I'm not - just most of the time. The really sad thing is that GD is my hmoepage

If I'm not here, it's not on my browser. No use in wasting resources on my computer if I don't have to be.

I could be downstairs making tea, or on the bog, or in a bath, or out at the pub, or asleep, or at uni, or just watchin TV. I'm generally too lazy to close my browser, so if this is the last place I visited, it'll probably stay up.

even if your browser's closed it doesn't matter. they can't check it without updating the page, which it doesn't do. it's a timeout.
