The delicious fruits of my MashUp experiments...
I have already declared my love for the new MashUp feature, and here I am back again to share the products of that love with you.
As I decided that it's about time I name these a bit more creatively than "MashUp 1-30", this pack doesn't only contain new presets - my previous ones are also included, properly renamed (so you can just delete all the previous ones, unpack this, and be happy). Now, here is the total of 55 mashed-up presets I have mixed up to now, which is divided into 30 original presets (10 of which are new) plus another 25 remixes and alternate versions. C&C very welcome. ![]() |

So I hear fractals are all the rage nowadays - now if only I understood anything about shaders. But no, whenever I look at that, the code just blurs into a glob of maths - that's when my mind goes blank and I watch the pretty images.
![]() Anyway, here's some fractal mashups for you. |

I really like the color diversity the random texture-based shader from Geiss's Brain Zoom 3 generates... can someone who understands more about shaders than me tell me if there is a way to exchange the sampled texture for another while the preset is running, based on loudness/bass threshold or something like that?

A batch, containing:
2 Remixes of krash's war machine preset, with an added shader dose of Geiss's brain zoom... goes really well together. 1 old remix of flexi's fractal for hexcollie I found, with added color changes. And another remix of MashUp #38. ![]() |

your sparkly mash-up was really inspiring - i will show you later... be prepared :P
but i have an even cooler idea for your texture-replacement-idea. so this is the composite shaders code of geiss' brain zoom: code: with these lines, first you take the actual color values from the warp shader and store it in ret. Then there's a two-dimensional coordinate vector calculated by the red and green color values (ret.xy). colors from the warp shader come in the range of 0..1, so the vector will point in a smaller square. Now you fetch the color value at this position from a random texture and multiply it by the blue value, to do the shade to black. this little square where the 2-dimensional color palette is taken from, can be easily moved around. check out this mix. q1 and q2 (per-frame-code) point at where the palette is taken from. try different settings with bass, volume or any function you can imagine. (and if you know the texture, you can do targeted color cycles... possibilities are endless) |

I guess I'll have to learn to write shaders after all - that, or go through a lot of trial and error.
![]() Anyway, thanks a lot for the in-depth explanation, flexi. First time I actually know what a shader does. (Well, except for the "make the next frame 2% darker" stuff.) I'll have to experiment a little bit with that one. Other than that, are there any good tutorials or somesuch on the subject matter, or should I just start up google? ![]() Also, here's: - A new MashUp + 2 remixes. - 3 basic remixes of Rovastar's Braindance, with a little shader action thrown in. |

Well, I decided to rework this, mainly for educational purposes.
Now with: - twice as many sparkly stars! - nicer, 6-tipped stars! - proper credits (bdrv's meddling had previously eluded me)! |

Although I'd still like to have an a bit more elegant way of spreading those stars, at least's it's much more shader (and MashUp)-friendly now.

If you add/rename it to .milk and it should work fine.
