5 mins lag

Can anyone tell me why my stream lags by about 5 minutes. I will say or do something on air and 5 minutes later my listeners hear me doing this.

Why does it take so long?

Shoutcast has a lot of lag; there is a buffer between the DSP and the server and another between the server and the client plus network delays. Shoutcast will never be real time.
