I got a feature request for albumlist.
Could you implement a function to sort in levels, so that the first degree is to sort everything by artist, and then all albums of one artist sort by another variable (like, year), and so on? I am using Albumlist for years now, and I think it rocks. Keep up the good work! |

I used to love albumlist with wa2, but i find that with wa5, its someone in excess of the built in library.
How about an option to have some way to have albumlist show content out of the media library where available, or from disk, or both? |

hmm, i stopped using albumlist when i got crack1ty's quick tracks plugin...
while i doubt it was its original purpose, you can put it in the 'play' or the 'main' or the title(for winshade mode) menus... and it can run off the data from whats in your playlist or ml.. plus it even has an internal queue(though its a different queue than jtfe, but its the same though) and you can enqueue/play total albums, in order, without screwing up your playlist at all.. plus you dont need to open up a whole nother window.. just open whatever menu you put it in.. There is no reset button on life... but the graphics kick ass |

"what does this offer over media Library?"
I think it's mostly preference. I personally prefer to use this or Dynamic Library over the built-in Media Library, myself... |

safai, im sure you have seen this in the WA dev forum, but shaneh's script as well as DrO's playlist separator plugin could be very useful for albumlist.
when enqueueing would it be possible to start/surround the album with a separator? http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....13#post1467013 |

Kick arse plugin! I have a suggestion though. Can you implement another sorting scheme, Sort by Artist/Year. This way albums would be sorted by artist then by the release date of each album. So it'd end up being something like so:
Tool - Opiate Tool - Undertow Tool - AEnima Tool - Salival Tool - Lateralus Opiate was released back in '92 where as Lateralus was released in '01. |

to achieve that, do
1) sort by year 2) sort by artist maybe i should just add an option for that... Album List for Winamp - Download: v1.43, v2.06, v2.07 beta Wallpaper for Playlist Editor - Download: v1.06 |

awesome. will make sure to make it in tomorrow's winamp unlimited update... did you fix all the known bugs? if so, you should get the plugin re-reviewed if possible.

How about mr inthegray reviewing this one? Just PM me your ratings and comments, and I will put them in the right place.
![]() (You would be our first guest reviewer. ![]() One observation of my own, would it be possible if it detects the albumlist.bmp in the classic skin file, to use this file over the gen.bmp? In all other cases it could use the gen.bmp for classic skins and the standard frame for modern skins. If you can make this update, version 1.43 will become obsolete. (I find it hard to let go of some old but proven things, like the albumlist.bmp. ![]() ![]() |

the cover view is hot, but can you read the cover from the mp3 tag and not from a jepg file in the album folder, please

I love this plug-in. Still I have to ask one question.
Not all of my MP3s are albums. For example in my AC-DC Folder there is the Live-album in the subfolder called Live. But there is also one other single file in the AC-DC folder. Sad thing now is, that Album List says I got two AC-DC albums, even though there is only one real album. It recognizes the single file as another album. Is there be a possibility to exclude files from the Album List? Something like a minimum number of files to make it an album? That would make your plugin really perfect. |

Just downloaded the new version. It's near-perfect - and it seems the only things holding it back are its default options. Examples:
"Resume playback on Winamp startup" is on by default - Never did care for Winamp to continue playback where left off; always thought that was something that should be left in car CD players... "Automatic advance to next album" is on by default - I normally don't listen to CDs sequentially, and usually would rather go back to a previous song before switching CDs... "Keep current song playing" is on by default - This might be good for when double-clicking is set to Enqueue album instead of Open. These are minor, and all are fixable with a couple clicks, so it's really no big deal. But it'd be even better if the default options were good for "normal" use. Which brings me this question - does anyone here who uses this plugin think the plug-in's defaults are good? And one last thing: When first installing, Album List just pops up the next time you start Winamp with a blank list; it's be nice to at least have a "This is this first time you've used AL; would you like to load a directory to get started?" dialog the very first time. |

i'd have to agree with the above.
any default options must not affect the normal playback methodology in winamp, otherwise you're just leading to confusion. popping up a dialog asking if they want to add a directory would be a definate plus, just like the media library does when its empty ![]() |

Plus, DrO already has a resume-playback-on Winamp-start plug-in, which I'm sure 98% of the people (at least on this board) have. I personally think maybe you're trying to make this do a bit too much.
And one more thing I noticed - the album cover displays no matter what if turned on; in other words, every time a song from a different album is played, and the media library is not open, it will automatically open the media library. Wouldn't this make more sense if it only showed the cover only if the ML was already open? But, I guess it doesn't bother me much; I'll most likely continue to turn album art off, since I have no use for it (maybe it, too, should be off by default - unless it improves a lot). |

This feature has been in Albumlist long before anybody here had heard of DrO, and I use it. I don't use DrO's plugin for this, that would be duplication. I don't want to take away from DrO's contributions, he is very good at what he does, (and so is Safai) I just don't use this plugin, that does not mean I don't use his other plugins. Quote:

personally, id have to agree. its an album list plugin, not a restore winamp on startup plugin.
winamp IS able to load more than one plugin you know ![]() course, many plugins do similar, one main function, lots of little bits and bobs tacked on. |

![]() ![]() as wildrose-wally points out 'that would be duplication' since if you want a straight forward resume then albumlist's one works great. as i've said before i prefer to do targetted plugins so that people only get the feature that they need but i can see how other ones get extra features added into them. also my plugin which is being refered to has only been around for 16months (when i made it just for me so i could come back from foobar to winamp) so wally is right that it's been around for longer. Eggware's Autoplay has been around for much longer as well if i'm right (was using that one back in 2000). does it matter how/where such a feature is implemented as long as for those who need it have it there? anyway, back to topic plzkthx ![]() -daz |
