Winamp DB's future

I just got off the phone with my host and apparently Winamp DB is in the process of killing the servers (he mentioned 1,000,000 request/day). There is no way I can continue to use the shared server and they offered me a pretty good dedicated deal however it would set me back $250 per month. As it stands now I have paid for all costs out of my pocket, but $250 is a bit out of my price range (poor starving college student) so I need some input to help me in my decision.
If I allowed donations through paypal how many of you guys would honestly donate money for this service and approximately how much. I realize many of you do not have access to credit cards and such but I can't think of another way to get the funds needed.
Otherwise the site will most likely shut down today due to the instability it is causing.

Or, we could get watadoo to holler over the cubicle wall. i doubt aol would notice 1,000,000 extra hits a day on any of thier servers. and if they do, it shouldnt be hard to convince them that it's necessary.

Well I just put up a bunch of crap pages so I don't kill the server again. Good news though I heard from Justin and they (Tom P. and Justin) will be looking into scaling issues (something which I didn't) and let me know.

OFF TOPIC BUT SORT OF ODD: When the host guy called he started naming off some places that were giving me hits (most I had never heard of) but he got to one that was a porn site (at least it had an odd porn like name (I don't remember what it was though)). I didn't ask, I just kind of laughed.

it's a database of all the winamps in the world. every downloaded copy can be queried for IP, physical location, age and gender of the person who installed it, and of course, all the email addresses.

or maybe it's just a place where we can all tell the world what we're listening to with our treasured proggie.

I'm very busy with work these days. So I also lack spare time to work on A-T. That's why I thought I'd ask (WinampDB was better anyway).

Since the day they pulled the plug out of A-T I never was able to get it up and running properly again. Although I am still working on it these days so it might arise some day again. One positive thing though, it's never been completely down so it's still possible for some old, active, users to use their images.

The only thing I need to get up and running again are the registrations, if I only wasn't such a lazy bastard...

Audio-Tracker.com is open for registration again!

Only 5 registrations per 24 hour are allowed since I don't want to hammer the server to death and go through all the fuss again. If all works well the number of registrations / 24h might increase but for now we keep it to 5.

Considering I just have a (relatively) new server - with a reasonable amount of spare space/decent bandwidth - if someone does want to reincarnate then I don't mind offering teh space.
