Oddsock/Edcast is no more
Sad to see http://oddsock.org/ is no more. His tools were a pretty good alternative to Shoutcast tools

and it appears not for the better.
The Oddsock tools were some of the most inspiring going and really help drive adoption of streaming, such a shame. Good luck to Ed is all I say ![]() BW Without open minds the world will die. Open yours and correct the mistakes you are making right now. |

I downloaded his source code about a year ago and started tinkering with it, fixing issues, tweaking the code, adding functionality ... I wonder what the "legal issues" are? Because I'm now making my tweaked versions available!!

Why not make something new and exciting ?
And I agree this is a bad thing. There always should be a free alternative out there, otherwise you have no say or control over the direction the software you use moves. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. ![]() ![]() |

I am just back home for 30 mins picking something up so thought I would reply.
http://dev.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcast_Broadcaster For encryption I can provide a compiled .dll or .so that does what you need. Not too sure what the policy is on the code,I presume it is "top secret" for now. let me know, and when I have some time I will put the shared auth library together for you. J. It is those custom made tea bags that throw people out and make people switch to coffee. I don't like the fact that people may switch to coffee,I need to see if those corp vending machines server up tea ,otherwise I am out of here. ![]() So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. ![]() ![]() |

This "glitch" is beginning to own these boards anymore. Downright starting to piss me off.
As for the original post topic, this is indeed a shame. ![]() |

Edcast was open source, that is what made it popular.
Without the source this is just another free sc source client. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish. ![]() ![]() |

Hey Jaromanda
I love your new version of the DSP plugin for winamp. All the codecs and features added are great. Thanks for fixing the log issue and allowing winamp to close without crashing anymore.
I am having one issue with getting it to startup while live recording enabled. Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere? Thanks in advance!! |

to be honest, I don't use the winamp version at all ... but ... I will test it out and see if I can find the cause.

Thanks a million! I have tried to copy the .dll files from the old plugin folder, but it doesn't seem to change things.

New Version of *fixed* Edcast
Hi - just wanted to update this thread - there is a new version of Edcast released in Feb. 2011. Oddsock is no more but this group has picked up the development.

I haven't done much in the last month on it - I am working on a couple of bugs in the DSP version - though, it suffers the same issues as shoutcast dsp when running in vista/7 regarding sourcing from an audio device - I'm seriously considering making a winamp source only version (i.e. no soundcard support), as there is, I believe, a better solution to working with sound cards - thinktink's livewire - http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=319929
I'm also working on getting it shoutcast v2 compatible "If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system" So I did |

I have been writing a ton of shortcodes while deployed.
I just need to resurrect my old laptop, but Im hoping I can apply them into a flash app that will help people interface with the newest IC2 trunk due to its ability's to reload server values without stopping the server or kicking listeners. After that works, the same concept for SC2. But this all works if I can get away from work long enough to do so. |
