Downloading Winamp 2?

Is it possible to stil download Winamp v2 at all?

It's not for me, I'm a registered v5.01 user, but I have a friend who insists that it's not as a fast as v2 for him, and wants the old version.

Download Winamp 5, only install the parts you want. Winamp 5 IS Winamp 2 with a lot of new plugins.

You're barking up the wrong tree - I like v5.

Still, it would be nice to know if it's available anywhere.

There is no need to have it anywhere. 2.81 wasn't still offered when 2.90 came out. Same with Winamp 5.0. It would just confuse people more. There are still places you can find it, just not here.

Actually, you could continue to download v2 all during the time that v3 was the official "current product".

Winamp 2.X and Winamp3 1.0 were separate products though. Winamp 5.X is based on Winamp 2.X and Winamp3 1.0 has since been retired.

Winamp 5 is Winamp 2

Winamp 2.81, 2.90 and 2.91 were all released AFTER Winamp3 v1.0
and 2.90 & 2.91 were actually the official product, not Winamp3.

It's just that there was no webmaster at the time to update the site, so all it said on the home page & download page for Winamp3 was "almost as new as Winamp 2".
