DSP/Effect plugins don't work (did clean install)

I'm running Windows XP Professional, using an SiS 7018 audio driver with Winamp v5.05. I followed the instructions to do a clean install of Winamp, but still cannot get any downloaded DSP plugins to affect the sound coming out of Winamp. I used to be able to use plugins like Enhancer months ago, but now nothing works. I've tried downloading other DSP/Effect plugins, but none will affect the music coming from Winamp.

Can anyone help?

Do you have the latest version of the sound driver(s)? Also, you might want to make sure DirectX is up to date for your system.

Sorry to ask what may be a stupid question, did you enable the plug-ins?

Maybe these DirectSound config tweaks or switch to the waveOut plug-in.

Still no luck? Please post a reply with system system specs

I did check my drivers and had thought I did have the latest. Turns out I didn't, so I just did install a driver upgrade and now I am hearing all the plugins. Thanks!

I'm running Windows XP Professional SP3. After installing Winamp 5.581, DSp/Effectt stoped responding. Did clean install, checked sound drivers (no update available), performed DirectX update, changed to WaveOut... The DSPs still don't work.
Pls help.

I have exactly same issue, the Plug-in module, Configure, and Uninstall in DSP/Effects page are all disabled once I upgraded to 5.5581 from 5.557.
When I downgrade back to 5.557 all the things in DSP/Effect page are all back to normal condition.

I downgraded back to previous version, too, and everithing's fine.
So i'll just stick to the old version.

What do you mean by not working, is the DSP/Effect page grayed out? Have a look at this post from the Winamp 5.81 Released thread.
