Weird glitch: Volume bar replaces balance?

Something weird happened when I tried to replace the original balance in baseskin.zip with my edited one. The volume bar replaced the balance bar, so I had 2 parts that looked like the volume bar, and, and no sign of my edited balance bar. I removed balance.bmp , but nothing changed, and when I removed volume.bmp, both the balance and the volume bar got the default graphic again. Has anyone ever encountered this glitch, and knows a solution to it?

Below is an illustration of the problem. Comments on the skin are welcome too .

Are you sure your balance.bmp was called balance.bmp?

If it wasn't, or the balance.bmp wasn't present, then Winamp will use the volume.bmp, and use the required frames of that to fill in for the balance area.

It's in capitals, but the filename is exactly the same. The file itself is 8 bit and RLE compressed (default). When I only add the balance.bmp , it gives me the default graphic too.

Don't compress it, save it in plain bmp format.

Many who live deserve death, some who die deserve life - can you give it to them?
Then be not so quick to deal out death in judgement.
