Will not recognize Flash drives.
I have both an Android Droid and a standard Verbatim flash drive. Sometimes Winamp will recognize my Android device plugged in via USB (only once over Wifi but that is a whole other discussion). In addition I can not get Winamp to recognize any of my thumb drives at all. I have right clicked on "Devices" and selected "Start Discovery". Nothing happens. What could I be doing wrong? When Winamp does find my Droid, I have no problems transferring playlists. At this point I am more concerned about the standard flash drive problem but I feel the problem is related to both devices. I looked through the FAQ and it lists standard flash memory drives as supported. Can anyone help me out with this issue?
Thank you. |

I read through the FAQ. There was not anything there that was relevant to my issue. I have the latest version of Winamp (I downloaded the newest version two days ago). I am running on Win 7, MSI mobo, 16 Gigs of ram, I5 processor, dual GTX 580. The system recognizes my flash drive with no issues. Only Winamp will not see it in the "Devices" section.

the FAQ links to the one for nunz list. without that, no one here is likely to be able to help you.

I do not see a link to anything about a "nunz" in the FAQ. How about a link to the FAQ you are referring to. I even did a search of the FAQ and it comes up with no results for "nunz".
I also forgot to mention in the previous post that I have no plugin installed. I am running a stock version. |

Hi
MrSinatra is referring to the Tech Support Forum FAQ. It's a sticky thread at the top of this forum. The "info required" section includes a link for OneForNunz, which is basically a plugin to produce a list of all your installed plugins. The log also provides some other useful information which might help us to help you. In your case, we need to see if the relevant plugins are installed. It sounds like pmp_usb.dll is missing (maybe you unchecked USB Device Support on the Choose Components page of the Installer Options?) [EDIT] D'oh! The download link is dead. Will hopefully get it fixed shortly.... Here's a temp working download link: http://meggamusic.co.uk/winamp/One_for_Nunz_v5_11.exe [EDIT2] FAQ updated (also provided info about alternatively using Koopa's "Info Tool" instead of OneForNunz). |

Hmm, so much for my theory then....
pmp_usb.dll is present. A "Winamp has detected a new usb drive. Would you like Winamp to manage this drive?" prompt should appear when you first connect a usb drive when Winamp is running. Did you maybe select "No" to this prompt, at some point? Whilst the usb drive is connected to the system, go to: Winamp > Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Plugins > Portables > USB Device plugin (pmp_usb.dll) > Config Select the relevant drive letter from the drop-down list. (Go to the "Computer" folder in Windows Explorer to find out the assigned drive letter, if you don't know it) If you ever said "No" to the manage prompt, then the "Blacklist Drive" button will say "Unblacklist Drive" instead. Click that button ONLY if it says "Unblacklist Drive" (not if says "Blacklist Drive"). Click the "Connect Drive" button. Does the drive connect now? Note that you might need to close & reopen Winamp for the changes to take effect. Or does the corresponding drive letter not even show in the drop-down list? Note that the Android plugin (pmp_android) also has the same config options (also note that this is for Android USB connection only, not wifi) |

That was the problem. That drive was blacklisted. Thank you very much.
Now I have another problem with playlist being recognized on my Ford Sync system but I will start another thread for that question. Thank you again for the help. |

First of all insert the stick on another port to see if it can work.
Then use the storage gadget on a computer with the right bit. Then use the stick on a device which encrypted it. Use another cable or interface to see if it can work. Fix corrupt partitions. Enter a missing drive letter. |
