Images support in Winamp

Add images support in Winamp (and in m3u playlist). Why?

- m3u is the only universal album format that can contain video, audio and image files
- everyone would be able to open images in m3u file, because 'old' windows media player can 'play' (open) it
- Winamp is not required to open m3u
- good also when you've got mp3 album with covers (images) in the folder - you could add that covers to m3u playlist

Try this: Add some video, audio files and images to playlist in winamp, save playlist to .m3u and open that m3u playlist in windows media player, it works! You can switch images with page up/down. (You can find old WMP in Windows XP here: C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\mplayer2.exe)

The M3U standard does not support images. You can't jsut go up and change a standard at will, this isn't Microsoft.

I already renamed this post to "Images support in Winamp", so I principally want images support...

Winamp supports video (and audio) files, so the only not supported multimedia files are the image files.

Does M3U standard support video files? No matter if it does or not - I can save video files in playlist to m3u playlist in Winamp even now, what is wrong with that?

Saving audio, video and image files to m3u is already possible in WMP! But I don't like WMP, I like Winamp, so I want save and open all multimedia files in Winamp, where's the problem???

I don't want change a standard! I just want to add something!

If everyone would think like you, you wouldn't be able to download videos from the internet or use webcams - at the beginning, internet was made just for the text...

So anyone else - what you think about it? You want images support in Winamp or not?

Thank you, I'll try it, but I still think, images support (not as plug-in) would be great, I don't think it would be harder to implement like videos...

video (in_dshow.dll and in_nsv.dll) and audio (in_mp3, in_wave, in_vorbis, etc etc) support is all provided by plugins.

The only input plugin I know of which adds support for image files in the playlist is NiceMC. However, it was recently removed from the winamp.com database because it includes adware/spyware in the installer.

Hmm, what's this one all about?

Aah, here you go. Try this
Just configure HTML Viewer plugin to read .jpg, .gif and .png only.

But if I create m3u playlist with images, I want, that everyone could open it in Winamp (not just in WMP - because I don't like WMP, I like Winamp!)

If I want save also images to m3u, I must associate m3u to WMP, just for images!

If you don't want new features in winamp, use winamp 2, also why this forum (Winamp Wishlist) even exists then???

could be, dunno and what's so wrong with plugins seeing as virtually everything in winamp is done via plugins (input/output/modern skins, etc) and if a plugin is done well then it'll act like it's "native" anyway so the point is mute

Eggs are not big, so maybe.. No, of course, I'll try it, thank you, but I think that I am invisible ! Because I'm trying to tell you this all the time:

Plugins are enough for me, but not enough for other people!
I can't save images to m3u, because I can't be sure that other people could 'play' this albums with images in winamp too. It's all about universality, no other format is as universal as m3u.

And plugins again - what you think - how many people did download winamp and how many "image plugin" ?

I tried that html plugin, but it doesn't work very well:

- images are opened in media library window, not in "video" window
- large images are not "fitted to window"
- if I hit "next" button or hotkey to go to the next file (image) it doesn't work

But I don't thing it's bad, maybe this could help to improve it...

Yeah, well, that's the best you're gonna get for now - unless someone else writes another/better image viewing plugin - 'cos no-one from Nullsoft's ever gonna write one, that's for sure :/
