Winamp freezes when connecting phone to computer twice within a short time

Hey all,

There is a bug in Winamp v5.8 Build 3660 (x86) where it freezes after I connect my phone to the computer twice in a short time. I think it's to do with Winamp scanning the phone for media files.

I had a bit of a look around in Winamp's preferences to stop this behaviour but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know how to stop it or perhaps a work around?

Well you could follow the doctor's advice in the old joke:

Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Don't do that.

Seriously, version 5.8.3660 is not a true update. It is a beta that was being worked on and was formally released after it was leaked to the internet. If the previous fully patched version 5.666.3516 doesn't have this issue, I suggest you return to it.

Due to the age of Winamp and the number of people who have worked on it over the years, every true update fixes some issues and introduces others. The new owners of Winamp have done nothing in the last 7 years to show any real interest in fixing any issues with Winamp.
