Netgear MP101 Wireless MP3 player

Have just received this and set it up on my network - impressive kit, works well, great to be able to send MP3s to my hi-fi (and select via remote).

Server software pretty naff tho'; anyone got this working with Winamp/SHOUTcast? or with browser interface (as per Netgear's website)? if so, how?

Do the docs mention SHOUTcast support?

No, but it is designed to handle streaming MP3s, and there is a (empty) folder named 'Shoutcast' within the program folder...

Also, Netgear's website refers to a remote PC/PDA browser interface; guess they haven't provided this in the initial (release) firmware.

I've been in touch with Netgear about the lack of Internet radio support on the MP101... apparently they are looking to update the supplied software to correct this, but they weren't prepared to say when.

BTW, it isn't mentioned in the documentation, but the MP101 will also work with the Musicmatch player if you enable the 'Music Server' and 'UPnP' options.

Any advice on how to serve a ShoutCast stream to the mp101 via MusicMatch?

I have tried to do this but not managed to get it working.

Have a look here:

Hopefully this means that an update to the MP101 server software is on its way.

It's close, when I try to play a saved Shoutcast stream from a playlist I see 'Unsupported song format'. The Netgear media server claims to support .m3u and .pls but there doesn't seem to be a way to access .m3u connections from the server.

I'm still tinkering, maybe Netgear/digital5 will add support for the formats soon.

Been there too... the server works with the MP101, but still won't serve a Shoutcast stream to it.

Worth watching to see what features they add to it in the future.

Does anyone have any instructions as to how exactly you use the plug-in with your MP101 to be able to use ShoutCast streaming stations?

contact netgear support they would love to hear from you. I bet they tell you its not supported and wont work.

This has ZERO to do with shoutcast technical support.
