Cool Flash Shoutcast Player

If you don't want to use winamp or want a platform-neutral player for streaming shoutcast Audio I have been using this for a while to embed streams on my site and make it easy to play on a page what my server is playing... if you know flash you can hack it many different ways but it does play "off-the-shelf".

Enjoy! (oh I did not author it, just think its cool and it _works_)

Wow, this is pretty interesting. I was going to post a thread asking if there was a way to stream a breadcast through flash, I guess my question is answered.

But like the other guys say, the link is broken, so could you send it to newkidonnet@yahoo.com please?
Thanks...

Is there any working Flash Player available ? I have found some posts saying flash can't play shoutcast on all browsers properly due to security reason.

flash players have little to do with shoutcast broadcasting or the Nullsoft software.

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

This is pretty good and really simple...

Its a shame about the whole 'cant access data from outside local domain' thing, a web-based flash player would be very useful.

well actully wavestreaming, thats a security risk, which flash must follow if the content isnt on localhost (same host as the flash player) you may not get it to work or you get a security warning. nothing to do with shoutcast at all.

but, if I had a page on radio.djdevin.net, and then my stream was radio.djdevin.net:8000, would that work with no security problems? I hope it would, I'll try when I get home

its funny if you search through google as suggested it takes you to this post. Amazing that in all this time there is still no fully functional, plantform independant, fully customizable , non-half-assed IE and Mozilla player that does not have bugs and other crap in it.

Lots of hacked-together stuff but nothing that is really "professional" as far as i've been able to find. And i've been looking for months.

And no the usual players people link to around here are not fully compatable with both of the big browsers, and the occsionally ones that are have huge memory leaks or are not customizable or some other problem.

The most frustrating thing about this whole Flash-streaming delimma is that there are examples that DO WORK. www.protonradio.com for example...the little button is a Wimpy Button http://www.wimpyplayer.com/ which apparently is playing a Shoutcast stream. Oh yes, even in Win IE.

So the potential is just right there in front of us, tantalizing, teasing....ggaaahhhhh I want it but for some reason I am denied!!

Good luck all.

has there been any progress on a flash player for shoutcast yet?

If not what is the next best option for an embedded player (not a pop up). That allows me to customize its feel and look rather easily and embedd into my page . Plus where anybody that comes to my site regardless of what mediaplayer they have can tune in?

Yes, it is possible to stream SHOUTcast via flash now.

We have managed to do it and we provide it to all of our SHOUTcast server customers for free, you can see a working demo on our myspace page;

it is relatively simple to get a flash player working for Shoutcast, the major issue remaining is the memory leak most have within browsers.

unfortunately the memory leak appears to be a flash issue, which is not easily solvable, the 'actually' making it work at all issue, is simply done, but you do need some kind of proxy in the way, be it at the client end or the server end.

Alot of providers who allow flash streaming also provide a 'port 80' service which inserts the appropriate header for the flash client to work.

Simply put you need to put a header which is Content-Length. It seems that

Content-Length: 221183499

works for all flash clients, how you get it to the client is of course a different discussion.

I have many flash players and windows player that work but for one situation I like the Wavestreaming player. The problem is without a lot of hacking they have you simply enter the IP and port and they give you the code but most the stations I want have mount points so nto way to use Wavestreaming unless someone knows what to do. Example one station is http://radio1.promodeejay.net:8000/garagefm and of course I can get the IP and the port is shown but it has that required mount point garagefm and no way to put it in the wavestream wizard - many of the stations I like are like that - also the shoutcast ones now do not show the ip of port- media player and winamp work fine as does most media player I put on the site but want to use the wavestream one

any suggestions?

thanks a lot

Try this link... they offer free flash players with anti memory leak technology...

http://museter.com/SHOUTcast_Hosting...ash_Player.php

There are sites that offer free anti memory leak software. One of them is Museter. We offer free anit-memory leak players for your online radio station.

You might also check out Museter's free flash players. They have the anti memory leak technology included with them.

Yes that is true... they must be mp3 or ogg in order to use them. However, they are free and they work very well for being free. Not mention there are many skins you can choose from.
