Well we are not getting the NAK100 error.

We are getting
07/27/06@12:26:12> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully
And nothing else after that. Mind you this is today,, and 20 minutes ago so maybe we ahve to wait a bit,.

You won't always see any NAK error. The only thing in common is that you should see an "added me" without a directory tester visit.

We made some modifications to the addserv and tchserv code which should resolve all of this. Anyone else still seeing anything?

Please don't PM me for technical support. Other users can't search through PM's so it does the other users no good.

problems are gone..

The NAK 100 error is gone since last night.
We never changed anything to our settings, so it seems that shoutcast/AOL has solved the problem.
The NAK 100 error is disappeared and our servers are touched by the YP without doing anything!
I want to say a big THANKS to the people who made this possible!!!!

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Stream is now listing on original IP:Port combination.

Now that that has been resolved any chance you could fix the SHOUTcast genre search for "Hip-Hop"? I assume it's just a wrong query string or similar?

Thanks again.

This issue has been noted as well. I see what the issue is. For now I have it searching "HipHop", but will have this resolved hopefully by Monday or Tuesday to find "Hip-Hop" and "Hip Hop".

Thanks for pointing this out!

Might also want to consider clearing the logs and restarting the server as it will give one a fresh look at what is going on.

He didnt say you'd be listed--he said it'd clear the nak 100 error. It takes a bit to get listed still i think.

Thanks Deppy appreciate all the help. I think there may be a few other Genre's that are having issues but I deal with Hip-Hop so that's how I know.

Hi Deppy,

Thanks for fixing the Hip-Hop listings.

Just thought I'd mention previously I believe the old YP was searching for "Hip Hop" the old servers/website that is.

I think you'd find a lot more stations use "Hip Hop" than "HipHop". I believe in the Genre field when using "Hip-Hop" it gets converted to "Hip Hop". I'll let you decide how you'd like to do it.

If this is the new way we are doing it I am not complaining :)

Thanks again for the fixes.

Regards,
Jason

yeah big ups all.

i still find a bit unnerving the amount of speculation surrounding the error and disinformation spreading that occurred among even known knowledgable folks here, active participation in these type of activities is really in poor taste imo and not really well thought out.

unfortunate, but it appears to be fixed. keep rockin in the free world.

absolutely correct. I nearly posted something like this when the fix was announced.

Was so tempted to ask people to find the first thread suggesting that AOL were closing down shoutcast on purpose (tinfoil hats at the ready!) - Of course, I thought a comment like this would probably result in the stupid masses thinking it was an admission of upcoming closure.

The point is, SHOUTcast seems to suffer from being undermanned when there are problems, something each and every one of us is aware of. Speculation that it is closing down is always unfounded, based on the pretense that things are not being actioned.
This is unsurprising when people have more pressing matters to attend to. Tag is managing new Winamp releases, Deppy is working his mojo over AOL's other streaming services, and myself, germ and KXRM are mearly volunteers that attempt to help as and when and where we can, and those are only the people you see day to day on these forums. A fair few of you may well have had contact from any of the other guys working behind the scenes at AOL's streaming operations.

Dispose of the tin hats. SHOUTcast isnt going anywhere yet.

SHOUTcast is going somewhere....it's going to ROCK!!!!!!!
</lame_joke>

In all seriousness, on top of this fix...Tag gave me an extra line to fix the 3 character genre searches on the SHOUTcast website.

I know thats a bit off topic for this exact thread, but since that was brought up on this thread I figured I would at least give the update of the status on this thread as well.

Craig, Tag, and dotme are the people to be thankin for the Nak100 fix. So my thanks go out to them!

All,

I can't find my tin hat, however..

Is there a way that NAK errors could be more descriptive ? Rather than NAK 100, something like 'NAK 100 ~ Antihammer gave error, stream update in queue' 'NAK 100 ~ Update deferred' 'NAK 100 ~ Noobs will be spanked.'

I know this would require client and server updates in the future. I always hated program errors that were 'internal' or could there be a captain crunch decoder wheel to tell us what causes what type of NAK errors? Aside from the forum brains... a quickie in the readme would be good.

Thanks for the great work too!

As for the errors... /usr/include/errno.h or /usr/include/sys/errno.h (or wherever your specific system keeps its errno.h file) is a good source for error numbers and what they mean.

ya ya although 100 is not defined its a good guess that is a socket error, since most of the 100s are socket realted.

take care.

Yeah thanks again to all who were involved in fixing the NAK 100 error and we can all be grateful for those of us who tried to post relevant data and attempt a diagnosis.

I notice that the Hip-Hop genre search has been fixed to search "Hip Hop" thanks for fixing that up Deppy I'm sure people will appreciate it even if they don't all post in this thread

A little late adding my thanks because I hadn't been following it this week, but this morning one of my servers crashed and when I restarted it I got NAK 100 for like 10 minutes. Then it went away.

Good work guys.

Yeah, it's back... but not on the same scale as before. At least, not yet. Might be one unhappy YP server that's not seeing what the others are seeing.

Yup - it's back again - our dialup stream is not listed at the mo. http://dialup.wildbunchradio.com:8002

Our server runs 24/7 and there haven't been any yp touches all day on the dialup stream.

However I do have some strange activity in the log - if any admins want to have a look i can send - get me on msn (zoetvuk@hotmail.com) or aim (zoeballzuk)

Thats a different error and not related to this thread.

It means that shoutcast cannot connect to your server. This could be due to a number of reasons. Do a search. That topic is already covered elsewhere.

All the best

No directory tester. Yup... it's back. Chances are good that the YP guys are aware, or will be soon. They're pretty good at monitoring these threads for signs of trouble. Best bet is to wait it out.
