Winamp Has Stopped Working message

Hi,

Since I updated to the latest version a month or so ago, I've noticed a few odd mp3s refuse to play and immediately crash Winamp with the 'Winamp Has Stopped Working' message appearing. I've checked said tracks on other mp3 software and they seem to play fine.

Has anyone else experienced this or know a fix? Failing that, can anyone give me a link to re-download the previous version.

Thanks

winamp crashing is a symptom, but your files are somehow bad, even if other stuff doesn't crash.

copy the files that cause crashes, then run them thru mp3val and mp3tag and fix any errors.

upload the originals here for the devs so they can replicate and fix the issue for winamp.

I forgot all about this problem until last night when I tried to play an old track and had the same crash again. Now this particular track is an old favourite and I know for a fact the file played fine in the old versions of winamp and plays in iTunes etc so while the file may be 'bad' somehow but it should still play. I found a replacement file for the track that works but I'd like to fix this issue as it will no doubt decide it doesn't like others from my collection at some point.

Looks like I'll have to seek out the previous version. Is there a link anywhere for it?

Thanks

I just downloaded an old version of Winamp from 2003 and tried the track and it played perfectly. But the previous version is so basic in comparison today's that I'd rather have a fix for the current Winamp than be stuck using a prehistoric one. The fact there's no problem on the old version proves my point though and there's clearly something about the current versions of Winamp that dislikes certain files.

Here's one of the current offending tracks.

No one argued that. It's a known issue. Example files will help to fix it.
