WAV32 delay

Greetings, I've tried other media players but keep coming back to Winamp, it's really my favorite player since my childhood. Recently I encoded some audio CD files in WAV 32-bit in a long file that contains all albums tracks. These files understandably are around 1GB large. Winamp plays them, but at the beginning it takes maybe 5 seconds to start playing. I guess it wants to parse the whole file first? Windows Media Player and basically every other player I've tried begins playing those files immediately. Is there anyway I can do that in Winamp, maybe by changing the WAV plugin or a setting in it? Thank you so much, Nick

Maybe changing the buffering settings in the output plug-in will make a difference:
Preferences > Plug-ins > Output > click on Nullsoft Directsound Output (out_ds.dll) > Configure > Buffering

Windows 10 Home, 64 bit, Winamp 5.666, Bento Skin

Hi ryerman, thank you for the answer. Apparently the buffer seems not to have an effect on the duration of this initial delay. Thank you though . Maybe it is caused by an internal Winamp process itself that unfortunately cannot be changed, or if it is the plugin, are there other playback plugins I can try? If anyone knows, thank you

Hi, thank you for your reply. FLAC plays with no delay, regardless of the size of the file or if it is 16 or 24 bit. Doing some additional testing, WAV 16 and 24 bit play also with no delay, seemingly regardless of the size of the file. Only WAV 32 has a delay which seems to depend on the size of the file, at least these are the current findings.

Given the lack of development and the very niche interest of this issue, I wouldn't expect much here. Maybe wacup will take a shot at it?
