mpeg are usually video files

there are video plugins for winamp:

http://wwwpop.hypermart.net/plugin/welcome.html

but winamp is a music player, better get a video player for those files:

please play one of those files by doubleclicking and look up what filetype it is:
highlight the file in the playlist > playlist buttons > misc > file inf > file info

If those "MPEG" files are actually MPEG 1.0 Layer 3, then they're actually MP3 files. Make sure you have Windows set to show extensions, and rename those files to .MP3

If you're using Windows 95 or 98, you open My Computer, and go View > Folder Options > View and uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types and click OK. If you're using Win2000, WinME or WinXP, it will be different how you get to this menu, but the option should be the same. Once you've unchecked the option and clicked OK, you should be able to rename the extension of any file.
