Xbox vs my PC

I bought an Xbox Wednesday. It just occurred to me that my Xbox could be more powerful than my actual PC. Any facts to support that possibility?

My computer:
400mhz PII
320MB PC100
4MB Video RAM
5x32x DVD/CD
80GB HD

There is no sig.

I suggest playing games on it. Using it for, you know, what it was designed for.

Then you better start sharing your information on particle accelerators, the web was designed to make transferring information between scientists easier.

I like the playing games on it part. I don't think I'll be spending $100 to get it modified. I do want to get that thing to play DVDs though.

You no longer need a mod chip to put Linux on an Xbox.

It doesn't seem like a lot of trouble from what I've read. I don't really have a need to mod it though. Now I'm wondering how much music it can store. And what the quality of the rip is.

I believe on the default 8 gig hard drives there is a partition for system files and 3 more as temp directories for games to use as a cache. That takes about 3-4 gigs, so there's about 4 gigs left. For MS's default CD ripper, all I know is that it's just using a renamed WMA format.

Most of my computer time at home is spent on a 2001 model dell that has gone through only a few upgrades. Works well enough for everything I need it for. The processor is a very early P4 at only 1.3 ghz - most people don't believe that P4s were ever that slow, but either way, it still isn't slow enough for me to need a replacement.

Most of my money goes toward hard drive storage. With the hard drives here (internal and external, primary and backup combined), there's over a terabyte of storage, mostly full. However, the computers don't really need much to access and use it.
