Android plugin not saving preferences (pmp_android.dll)

I have winxp sp3, winamp 5.58, Droid phone.

I tried using winamp to sync, put music files on my Droid Phone using the winamp media library, it puts all the music in the root of the drive. I wanted to put it in a folder on the drive. ex. q:\Winamp.
Every time I tried to make changes to the preferences for the drive (see attached pic)
the changes will not keep/save. [in the pic these are the defaults, I change anything on that screen, but it does not save them]

How do I get these settings to save? What .ini file do I need to create?

I have not yet updated to 5.58 (as I'm afraid it will break things I had to jump through hoops to make work),

but that screenshot looks VERY similar to the pmp_usb dialog box.

playlist directory is the directory for your files, IIRC. I currently have mine set to F:\Music\ (because F:\ is what card is mounting as).

Also, if by "Droid Phone" you mean Motorola Droid, just say Droid. Because a "Droid Phone" is actually a series of phones (Droid Eris, Droid Incredible, Droid X) that is the product of Google and Verizon partnering to hustle Android OS.

If you plan on using playlists on the Droid (m3u is supported, possibly pls), you need to make sure Winamp is NOT set to "preserve file name and path" because it's going to write the drive letter in to the m3u file and then obviously it won't work in the phone because none of the paths are right. So tell it not to do that, set the proper directory up there in your screenshot (and if you disable the setting, the resulting file won't have the drive letter to screw things up), then your good to go.

Hi

Please let me know if the pmp_android.dll in the attachment below fixes the problem.

Note, the installer also includes an updated pmp_usb.dll

[EDIT]

Attachment removed. Please see updated patch below.

Installed the 1.1 version and tried it. Now it seems to save the settings to a file on my phone.
(see attached file "pmp_android.txt" for the settings, NOTE I renamed it from .ini to .txt for the upload to here.)

But now when I try to send to: or drag a song or 2 to the drive in the "media Library window"
song said it transfers but it really does not.

I did manually edit the .ini file for the "songFormat" to have the path in it. ex. Q:\Winamp instead of just Q:\. Then tried again but no luck.

edited file now looks like:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ml_pmp]
syncOnConnect_time=1278769998
syncOnConnect_hours=12
extractpath=C:\My Music
extractfmt2=\Winamp\<Artist> - <Album>\## - <Trackartist> - <Title>
adiv1pos=50000
adiv2pos=50000
extractusecdrip=0
[pmp_android]
songFormat=Q:\Winamp\<Artist>\<Album>\## - <Title>
pldir=Q:\Winamp
supportedFormats=mp3;wav;m4a;mp4;m4v;avi;3gp;mid;ogg
pl_write_mode=2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Created a Play List on Drive , via "Media Library" and it saved play list in Q:\Winamp folder
but no songs.

I manually copied a song (via windows explorer) to the Q:\Winamp folder. Restarted winamp program to see if it shows song. It does not. Even gave an error "Windows no disk". I clicked continue and "media Library came up but did not show song on Q: drive. IT did show "Android Portable" though.

Hmmm, strange... we'll look into it.

Note that manually copying files won't work.
Transfers need to be done via the Winamp interface for Winamp to see the files on the device.

[EDIT]

We've reproduced a problem where transfers which require transcoding aren't working.
But normal transfers are working ok.

Ok, please try this update patch for pmp_android & pmp_usb

Close Winamp. Download & run the attached installer.

Note: I've deleted the previous attachment to avoid any confusion.

figured this out so far.

some of songs file names has () in them these do not transfer. I renamed them and then they work. It seems that it tries to make the folder name with a () in them and cannot.
example: (Brian McKnight) - Anytime.mp3
I renamed it to: Brian McKnight - Anytime.mp3 and it works.

I do get an error at startup only when phone is plug in and drive is attached. Then I open up Winamp. see attached file. But I hit "contiune" and it works fine. Also if Winamp is open first then I attached phone and mount drive it does not give error.

I will try the lastest update and let you know.

DJ Egg <Thank you

PMP_ANDROID.dll

Thanks, the new attached plug-in works. It accepts my format and playlist directory changes and save them when I select the "Save and Rescan" button. But I'm still having a problem with playlists.

I create a playlist from some songs on my computer. I then send that same playlist to the android. The playlist appears on the android but it's empty. There are no songs associated with it. But the songs are on the andorid. I have to add the songs to the playlist on the android again. Also it creates all my playlists with a '.m3u' extension and Winamp will not allow me to rename them.

Hmm, we've not been able to reproduce any crash yet, but we're looking into it.

I'm attaching another update here which should address some of the other reported issues.
I've removed the previous attachment again to avoid any confusion.
Close Winamp, download & run the attached installer.

I converted my files to not have the () in the file names, Now it seems to work fine.
The startup error does not happen all the time. I found that if I eject the android device from winamp before closing it. it seems not to give the startup error.

As for the android phone not showing play list after a sync. A phone issue I think. I just goto song list and it starts to built the list then I go back to playlist in the phone and they are there.

I will try newest update now.

This startup error might be on some slower computers with certian virus scanners. It is scanning accessing the device and winamp is trying to at the same time. a timing issue.

I have the same problem Mr.goro mentioned above.

Every time I connect my Nexus One to my PC Winamp crashes. If I start Winamp with the phone already connected Winamp crashes right during startup.

When I deinstall the android plugin pmp_android.dll Winamp doesn't crash when I connect the phone. But without the plugin Winamp is not able to detect the connected Nexus One. I can manually copy files to the phone. MediaMonkey is able to sync music with it but Winamp just ignores the connected phone.

I'm prety sure that before my update to version 5.581 Winamp detected my Nexus One as usb drive.

Confirmed crash with HTC Legend

I can confirm the issue Mr.goro and Krake mentioned.

Winamp 5.581 crashes each time my HTC Legend is connected to the computer.

The error report mentions C:\Windows\syswow64\USER32.dll
Exception code: 0xC0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION

as you can see, i am using: Windows 7 x64

I hope this information can help.

Does Winamp write any "crash log file"? I havn't found any.

Crash, same problem here, Motorola Milestone

Hi there.

I have same problem. When i connect my Motorola Milestone (Winamp running) there comes the bulb in system tray, mentioning that the phone was connected.
Then it takes just few seconds and Winamp crashes.

If the phone is connected before i start Winamp then it will crash right after the start.

This all happens with Winamp Version 5.581 (just installed today)
AND (!!)
after applying the patch "pmp_android_v1.1.exe" from posting #11
The Motorola Milestone is the version of the Motorola Droid on german market.

See also attached screenshot.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention, using Windows XP 32Bit, all actual patches installed.
END-EDIT

Regards,

Baba
