occasional NAK errors
Hi,
I'm seeing a partner of occasional errors. What can I do to fix them? Thanks. there's nothing you can do as it's an intermittent issue in the YP itself. i don't have a time frame on when it'll be resolved (sooner rather than later is all i can say) and at most it will cause your listing to appear to come and go (depending on where that is in its cache update cycle).
btw, i had asked for more details from you about this a few weeks back (here) but i'm guessing you forgot which is why you created a new post and finally provided some details. -daz |

Sorry. I did see that but thought you might prefer a new thread. Anyway thanks for your time. One question. Are all streams affected equally?

a possible fix for this is now live across the backend system so will see if it improves things or not.

I still got the errors so I don't think its fixed. Did you have to reboot your server partyvibe?

Ok so I'm seeing HTML garbage mixed in with the problem streams genres' when I highlight them in the shoutcast.com directory. I'm seeing no errors in the logs though.

my post above said _possible_ fix and for most of the 'generic errors' it has worked. however there are still some cases (now that those have been fixed) which allows me to isolate and fix the remaining ones which i'm aiming to do in the coming week (as per http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=349679).

Thanks for that update. In the meantime it's happened again. HTML has appeared in the genre listing of one of my streams causing it to drop out of the directory again. The only fix I have is restarting the stream. Only the shoutcast directory is affected AFAIK.
Is this a known issue or do you need more information? |

where exactly are you seeing that? on the DNAS summary page? as things are in place to reject listings where the data is clearly junk / seemingly fake.

Intermittently the genre information for my streams is being garbled with HTML and information from another one of my streams. For example my Reggae stream is currently displaying corrupted information for my Ambient stream (see attached).
All my streams are available below but only one is affected now: http://www.shoutcast.com/Internet-Radio/partyvibe |

so it's the tags/keywords and not the actual genre field (there is a difference and mentioning genre makes me look at something different from what is shown in your screenshots).
as far as i can tell, it's an issue with the downloaded page and / or the browser (even possibly by a browser plug-in) being used which is corrupting how the 'balloon' is shown. the data in the system feeding things is correct and nothing i'm able to look at is indicating an error on that side. as what is being shown is the raw html which is used to construct the links. unless there's a reliable way to replicate this (and is definitely not specific to you) then at the moment i don't see what can be done to fix it (as none of my machines on different OSes and browsers is exhibiting the issue). -daz |

I don't believe this is a browser issue. I fixed the problem stream yesterday by restarting it because weekends are peak listeners time. I will prompt you again next time it happens.

i was speculating at options as that's all i can do if i'm not able to replicate the issue. the only other thing i can think off is that the server is passing a value with some form of punctuation in it which is then causing the balloon to have issues (which is possible if you or a dj at the time are not setting an allowed genre string - as the keywords / tag are the v1 genre string from the DNAS).

This hasn't affected a live dj stream to my knowledge. And none of my streams are using special or even unusual characters for their genre information to my knowledge. Regardless aside from the information being corrupted in the bubble, how is it possible for it to adopt the genres of another stream?

i do not know. all i can tell from the screenshot is that something screwed up with the display / insertion of the list of genres into the div in that part of the "balloon". it has _nothing_ to do with the YP side of things from looking back at the old data so it puts it as either how the site display is working or a browser glitch or just something random due to sunspots.
so why - i don't know, how - i don't know. all i know is that you're the only person seeing this and no matter what i've tried cannot get it to happen which is making me have to seriously think that it's something specific to you and you only. -daz |
