Winamp 5.5 - clean install
Language Pack: italian Skin: Bento Big OS: Vista Business Core 2 Duo, ABIT AB9pro, 2GB RAM, nvidia 7900GS Plugin: auto-tag I have a problem using auto-tag in Bento with Always on Top enabled. If i select a bunch of files in enlarged playlist and choose send to / Auto-tag the auto-tag window opens under Winamp. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Reproduced. Thanks. Note that the Auto-Tag dialog is still accessible by clicking the Auto-Tag's own taskbar icon (which is separate to Winamp's taskbar icon). But still, yup, the autotag dialog should initially appear on top if Winamp's 'always on top' setting is active. |

Hi,
Winamp 5.5 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins) Winamp Language englisj Skin: Bento Windows OS, XP SP2, german System specs (P2B deluxe, Intel 6600, 2GB) Video Card, Nvidia 7950 Sound Card Creative Audigy DirectX 9.0c? Plugin pmp_ipod 0.7 this is related to the pmp_ipod plugin. I did a clean reinstall of the official 5.5 release (i used the betas before). Now the album art doesn't work anymore. Whether the right sided album art pane preview works nor the display of album art during playback. All i can see is the common placeholder. In the betas i got the album art during album select an for the first selected song (album art on the right side of the display didn't work as well when "music" was highlighted). Did you change anything on DLL? MediaMonkey is working very good here. This is the procedure i used: - checked if album art is enabled in plugin - synced one album with album art in folder.jpg - ejected ipod with the bottom right button in winamp everytime i do this i loose all my album art. to get it back again i did the following: - deleted the winamp-synced album from the ipod with mediamonkey - ejecting the ipod Regards, sprutzle |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins)
Winamp Language Pack: none (using default English US) Windows OS: XP SP2 x64 PDA OS: Windows 2003 SE Plugin: Nullsoft ActiveSync Plug-in v0.18 [pmp_activesync.dll] ActiveSync: 4.5.0 The free space on the device is measured on the main memory, this is 24MB, in my case. The SD-card of 512MB is empty but it refuses to write any album to the device. I changed the output dir to \Storage card\mp3. I think that the plugin should check the free-space available at the selected dir. Last edited by hafkensite; 13th October 2007 at 16:27. |

Winamp 5.5 clean install, no 3rd party plugins
No language pack. WinXP Pro, SP1, 2.4GHz, 384MB RAM DirectX 9.0c Problem is with auto-tagger: When selecting more than one item and sending it to auto-tagger using the Send To menu, it all works well until after it has found the (correct) information from the CDDB. Updating the tags causes winamp to stall and then exit without an error message. By "stall" I mean Winamp starts constantly playing the last second played (or thereabouts) of the current song, for about 5 seconds. Then it exits. Upon restarting Winamp, I checked the songs and the data had not been added to their ID3 tags. Adding the data one-by-one worked without a problem. I have tested it with multiple different songs now, after restarting my computer and doing normal clean-ups (spybot, CCleaner). Even defragmented my drive (needed to be done anyway). Still the same. It happens whether a song is playing or not and apparently with any number greater than one. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Sorry, but we can't reproduce this. Anyone else? What file formats? All mp3, other, mixed? |

annoying 5.5 media library problem:
Sometimes the winamp main window will always stay on top of all other winamp windows. Clicking on the media library, the winamp main window continues to be on top. It is pretty annoying. This happens when I initially open the media library, and the problem goes away when I click on the main window again and reclick on the media library. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Also reported here. I couldn't personally reproduce it, but Benski could and says he has an idea what's going on... |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins)
Winamp Language Pack: none (using default English US) Skin: Winamp Modern Windows OS: XP SP2 PL System specs: (Biostar NF4ST-A9, Athlon 3200XP+, 1,5GB (3x512MB DDR400) Video Card: Nvidia 7300 LE 256MB Video Card Drivers version: The Latest Sound Card: Motherboard Sound Card Drivers version: The Latest DirectX version: 9.0c Not a big issue, it's done it after upgrading also but... Seems that maximizing and then restoring to the original size using the double click titlebar feature on the both bento skins seems to resize the bottom of the main window to be off the screen. Basically, maximizing and then restoring doesn't remember the original window size. ...again not a big deal. |

Re auto-tagger: It appears to happen with MP3s, with Vorbis there is no problem. With a mixture of the two it also fails. I haven't tried other formats because those are the only two I have.
Also, I've noticed a bug which should be easy to fix. When displaying the ID3 info from the original tag, and the info found on Gracenote next to it, ampersands are not displayed. Instead, the character immediately after it is underlined. Seems like a simple case of escaping ampersands. |

Bug in AVS
This bug has existed for some time (since the 5.0 days, IIRC) but i never bothered posting about it.
Guess now's the right time: There is a bug in AVS of which i haven't been able to pinpoint the cause but makes the vis look erroneous. Once it happens, it is needed to close and reopen winamp in order for it to work again. closing the vis and reopening, or even stopping the song and starting again doesn't solve it. It affects the formula's results as well as the positioning. I have two screenshots and an avs preset which easily shows when it's right and when it's wrong. It is as if some rounding (to neareast?) took place when it's wrong. Edit, System specs (nothing special): Windows XP Pro, SP2 with all updates. DirectX 9.0c Intel P4 2.8Ghz (non HT) Nvidia 6200 Using the Directsound Output plugin. |

Display bug
A display bug when using visualization.
Specification: Winamp 5.5 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins) Winamp Language Pack (Swedish/Svenska) Skin: Bento Windows XP Pro SP2, English System specs: - ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe nForce 570 - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 6000+ 3Ghz - 2 GB RAM PC2-6400 Xtreme DDR2 Corsair Dual Channel Leadtek Winfast GeForce 8800GTS 640Mb DDR3 PCIe, Video Card, v6.14.11.6218 SoundMax HD Audio, v5.10.0001.6110 DirectX 9c Milkdrop 2.0 [vis_milk2.dll] First I show small version of visualization in upper, middle window box, using the buttonmenu to the lower right. Later when I want to show bigger version by using the tabs (Medialibrary, Video, [Visualization] <-- THIS ONE, Browser) it only show a small version in the bigger version window. This is the bug. I've uploaded some images in a ZIP to show my steps. bugreport.zip waschman.googlepages.com/bugreport.zip [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yup, we're aware of this issue. Though I'm not sure if it can be addressed. We shall see. For now, you have to click on another tab (eg. ML or video) then back to Vis tab, and this refreshes md2 display size. Last edited by waschman; 18th October 2007 at 15:51. |

I reported a bug with the beta's and blamed the SRS Wow plug-in. It ends up it wasn't that plug-ins fault. I have a problem with the playlist generator.
Winamp 5.5 clean install No language pack Currently using the classic skin, but any will work Using XP SP2, English Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLI Motherboard, Intel P4 530 3.0Ghz processor, 1GB Corsair ValueSelect Ram ATI X700pro video card. Catalyst 7.10 bare driver (no CCC) Built in Realtek ALC888 sound. Driver version 1.79 DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Plug-in Nullsoft Playlist Generator v1.0 (ml_plg.dll) To make Winamp crash I first let the media library scan my files. I then open Winamp Preferences>Plug-ins>Media Library>Nullsoft Playlist Generator v1.0>Configure selected plug-in. I let it scan my music. I add a single song to my playlist. Right-click it and select Play tracks similar to (a song in playlist). Everything works fine until I close Winamp later. I then get an error like: --------------------------- ml_plg_window: winamp.exe - Application Error --------------------------- The instruction at "0x01491074" referenced memory at "0x01ef1f60". The memory could not be "read". or sometimes it doesn't report that it's from the ml_plg_window like: --------------------------- winamp.exe - Application Error --------------------------- The instruction at "0x015e1074" referenced memory at "0x01ae1f60". The memory could not be "read". The numbers in the error message change. I realize my last report was just before 5.5 was released so I doubt it was looked at (since this only appears to be happening to me) but I wanted to correct what I had written before. My plug-in/dxdiag/hijackthis logs attached. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Are you using the updated in_mp3 patch (as referenced in list in first post)? |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install
no language pack Skin: Winamp Classic Windows XP Prof, SP2, german System specs (Asustek A7N8X-X, AMD Sempron 3000+, 512 MB) video card: NVIDIA GeForce FX5700VE sound card: good question... ![]() DirectX: 9c Plugin: auto tag When I try to use the send to -> auto-tag function absolutely nothing happens. The auto-tagging through the file info does work fine though. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Alas, we can't reproduce this. ml_autotag works fine, though there might be a bit of a pause on first usage within a Winamp session, whilst the Gracenote libraries are loading. |

the Show Replay Gain Values checkbox in Winamp Preferences -> Media Library -> Local Media -> Options tab doesn't work anymore (and it's useless, just right-click in the Album view on the header and select Customize columns...)
[Edit --> DJ Egg] Hehe, well spotted. Yup, we'll get that option removed. Thanks. [Edit --> DrO] Fix done and going into the internal builds shortly |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install
Skin: Classic Windows XP, SP2, English HP Pavillion Notebook, AMD Turion64 x2 1.6ghz, 2gb RAM M-Audio Fast Track Pro Soundcard ml_autotag.dll Like the other guy said, Send To>Auto-Tag does absolutely nothing. Also, I have no Auto-Tag tray icon like mentioned before, despite installing Winamp over and over again several times. All of the other Send To option work fine, but Auto-Tag literally does NOTHING, it's like I didn't click anything at all. Computer doesn't sound like it's "working" or anything, nothing slows down as if it's trying to access anything, nothing happens, period. |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install
Skin: All Windows XP SP2, english Athlon64 3000+, 1 gig RAM Creative Audigy2 ZS ml_pmp.dll and/or pmp_p4s.dll Album data fails to synch correctly when using a Toshiba Gigabeat S60 (A Plays4Sure device). Connect the Gigabeat using a standard USB cable -> Open Winamp -> Wait a minute or so for Winamp to detect the Gigabeat -> Right click on an album or playlist in the Winamp Media Library and select 'Send to: Toshiba Gigabeat S.' Disconnect the Gigabeat once the files finish transferring, and all the new files are dumped under 'Unknown Album' in the Gigabeat's menus. The directory structure is being created correctly, as far as I can tell: DeviceRoot:\Media\Music\<artist>\<album>\<track #> - <Song Title>.mp3. And if the files are dragged and dropped back on to the PC, all the metadata is intact, so I'm guessing it's just not playing nice with the device's dB. Just an FYI, if I use ml_pmp.dll v1.13 and pmp_p4s.dll v0.6 a playlist synch will synch the album data correctly, sans artwork, but a direct album synch will still synch the albums wrong. But that's been a problem since Winamp 5.3. Last edited by Fafhrd42; 22nd October 2007 at 04:42. |

Add both of these sets of tracks to the Winamp Media Library. 4. Look at the library, both sets of tracks are in ONE album called "The Singles" 5. iPod sync crashes Winamp
Winamp 5.5 clean install (NO third party plugins)
English language pack Winamp Classic skin Windows XP Professional SP2 (Spanish Language, Mexico) System Specs: Dell Optiplex GX260 Pentium 4 2.26 GHz 512 kb cache 256 MB ram DDR PC2100 Video: ATI Radeon 9200SE w/tvout. Driver version: 8.252.0.0 Sound: SoundMAX integrated digital audio. Driver version: 5.12.1.3538 DirectX version: 9.0c Plugin with issues: iPod plugin (0.7) pmp_ipod.dll Steps to reproduce it: 1) Start winamp 2) Choose folders to scan in media library preferences - local media - watch folders, choose rescan folders on startup, perform full scan. 3) Enable global hotkeys & scroll title in windows taskbar. 4) Restart winamp. 5) Connect iPod nano 2dn gen (4GB) 6) Create a new playlist on it. 7) Go to Local media - Audio, search for some mp3 tracks, select them, drag and drop them to the recently created playlist. Some track letters in the local media - audio view start showing weird square characters (like the ones shown in chinese/japanese web pages) while the music is being transfered if one select them, or navigate through that list with the arrow keys (up, down). 8) Once the transfer has finished, select ipod device in media library. Winamp crashes: Instruction in "0x7c920f29" makes reference to memory in "0x030e0146", memory cant be "read". Note: Trying to play some of the newly transferred tracks in the ipod nano restarts it, but playing them after being transfered using iTunes instead doesnt restart the device. This is very similar to what rutches experienced and commented in a previous post. |

reproducible crash (in_vorbis.dll) using winamp 5.5, windows xp sp2
load in playlist and play: http://scfire-chi-aa01.stream.aol.com:80/stream/1024 http://sc2.megastacja.net:8600/ while playing one of the above, close winamp; it should crash; if I rename in_vorbis.dll to something else (eg in_vorbis.dll.bak), the problem dissapears I've attached a crash log LE: I don't know if you see the URLs I've posted, but there are 2 on-line radios, both are audio mpeg streams [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yes, we see the url's. Hmmm, strange. I can't reproduce the problem. There's no crash here for me. Sorry. |

I've attached the winamp ini files
I've tried both full and full_emusic-7plus winamp 5.5 en-us builds, and I've installed only: - all audio playback plugins (Multimedia Engine\Audio Playback) - all video playback plugins (Multimedia Engine\Video Playback) + Direct Sound output support (which is not optional) everything else unchecked; then no winamp remote, no toolbar or free mp3s, you can verify that with the install.ini file then configure winamp as I do (see winamp.ini, better overwrite it) Play the stream for several seconds, then close winamp It also crashes on the first run after installing&configuring winamp, after that it only crashes when playing mpeg audio streams all the crashes are occurring at in_vorbis+0x17a2 [Edit -> DJ Egg] Hmmm, strange. Have you installed the in_mp3 update patch yet? See first post in thread. Last edited by mhanor; 30th October 2007 at 11:35. |

Winamp Language english Skin: Bento Windows OS, XP SP2, italian System specs (P3 866mhz, Intel 6600, 2GB) Video Card, Nvidia 5200 Sound Card Creative SBLive DirectX 9.0c? Plugin: pmp_ipod.dll v0.7 1) connect my iPod Classic 80 gb 2) sync, it says "got XXX songs that are not in the media library" 3) I choose the delete option and click OK 4) the songs appear deleted but in fact they remain in the ipod DB, i can still find them in the ipod but they won't start. If I disconnect and reconnect the iPod it happens the same again, I can delete them again but nothing changes. |

incorrect information
Winamp 5.5 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins)
Winamp Language english incorrect read information (bitrate>length) on some files file with wrong bitrate (5Mb) : http://SidY*****temp/track.mp3 file with 0 lengh & without Format Info (4Mb) : http://SidY*****temp/track0.mp3 screenshot for track.mp3 : http://SidY*****temp/track.png its track error or winamp? [Edit --> DJ Egg] track0.mp3 is well corrupt. No valid header found. Also note that unicode chars should be in the ID3v2 tag, not ID3v1. track.mp3 isn't as bad, but has maybe been messed up by some dodgy external lyrics3 editor. Both files crashed encspot for me. MP3Utilty didn't like track0.mp3... Foobar also has the same problems as Winamp with both files. But hey, at least they both play ok, yes? Last edited by BoyNG; 31st October 2007 at 08:03. |

Yeah, both play, ok. Also display Time and Bitrate correct on main winamp window. why? In playback & playlist\ML not the same metods for getting mp3 info? or what?
[Edit --> DJ Egg] Correct. ML and Playlist (if 'use library title info for playlist item formatting' option is checked) get info from the file headers. Main window gets info via the decoder on playback. |

Winamp 5.5 - clean install: true
Skin: Bento Windows XP NL Plugin: Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen v2.05 AND v2.09 [vis_nsfs.dll] Not installed the in_mp3 update patch for 5.5, as it did not apply to this issue. The bug: The vertical resolution on the voiceprint in Winamp 5.5 is far lower than in Winamp 5.05. Here is a link to screenshots of the output: http://www.pliv.com/show/winamp_nsfs_voiceprint.png I can't be certain if this is a bug in the plugin or a side-effect of the way Winamp 5.5 gives data to the vis plugin(s). I tried replacing the dll in Winamp 5.5 (version 2.09) with the one in the plugins folder of Winamp 5.05 (version 2.05) -- but it had no effect. The 5.5 output looks the same as when audio with a low sample rate is played. It seems as though the "Bands" option slider is ignored, or perhaps misinterpreted. The audio files sound the same -- it's just the graphics of this plugin. Configuration of input/output plugins (in_mp3 and directsound) is the same in 5.5 and 5.05. |

As discussed here, there's a bug within MilkDrop2 and DreamRender which prevents me from seeing some visualization - however, AVS or MilkDrop 1.04e work just fine.
Winamp 5.5 (clean install, no language pack) Bento-skin, but doesn't matter which one Windows Vista Business x64 (German) Mainboard: ABIT AN8 32X CPU: Athlon64 X2 4800+ RAM: 2GB OCZ DDR1-400 GFX: 2x XFX GeForce 7600GT XXX Edition (ForceWare 163.69; connected via SLI-bridge; SLI is enabled within nVidia control panel) SFX: Realtek AC '97 Onboard (Version 6.251, released 2007/09/03) DirectX 10.0 MilkDrop 2.0 (vis_milk2.dll) and vis_drem.dll are causing the bugs Installed the in_mp3.dll-patch for Winamp 5.5 |

JTFE makes winamp freeze while trying to open preferences at jtfe page if there are language ini-files with names not beginning with "jtfe_". For example, try to copy jtfe_auto.ini with a different name (e.g. somefile.ini) into jtfe subdirectory and open JTFE preferences in winamp.
[edit -> DrO] fixed internally. though that now means i need to roll the fix out on a few other plugins which use the same code but then again you shouldn't be placing non-standard files in that folder ![]() |

Hi,
just wanted to state that my previously reported bug got fixed after I've switched to nVidia's latest beta-drivers (169.09). Take care, Martin.. ![]() |

DirectSound Output plugin error
Observed Error:
When attempting to play an audio CD through Winamp 5.5, the DirectSound Output plugin gives an error at the beginning of every track on the CD. Program Info: Winamp 5.5 - clean install (NO 3rd-party plugins) Skin: Tested with Bento, Winamp Modern, and Drone 1.1 Installed in_mp3 update patch for 5.5 Plugin affected by/causing the bug: DirectSound Output v2.47 (d) [out_ds.dll] System Specs: OS: Windows XP Pro, SP-2, 5.1.2600; locale: USA Mobo: Abit AN8 Ultra (NF-CK804) CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ RAM: 1GB OCZ Titanium DDR400 PC3200 Video Card: eVGA GeForce 7600 GT; drivers version: 94.24 (nVidia) Sound Card: SB Audigy 2 ZS; drivers version: 5.12.8.1164 (Creative) DirectX version: 9.0c Steps to Reproduce: 1) Place audio CD in drive and allow to spin up 2) Using Winamp's Main Menu, select Play | Audio CD [drive letter] 3) a) If CD hasn't been played previously, Gracenote will engage and show its usual dialog box while obtaining track info for the CD. b) If CD has been played, track info is pulled from the local CDDB database. 4) In the case of 3a, an error box with the title "NullSoft DirectSound Output v.2.47 (d) e..." appears directly after Gracenote completes; in the case of 3b, it appears immediately after step 2. This error box contains the message: "Error creating DirectSound buffer. Error code: 80070057." It also contains an "OK" button at the bottom. 5) Click the "OK" button in said error box. Audio CD track plays normally. 6) Error box reappears prior to playback of any and every track on a given audio CD. Applicable Notes: ** Winamp Agent is deactivated. This was also the operating state of the program for v.5.35, for which this error wasn't observed. ** The option to associate Winamp with audio CDs is unchecked. Again, this was also the operating state of the program for v. 5.35. ** This error is only observed with playback of physical audio CDs--digital audio files, regardless of format, play without difficulty. I can provide further diagnostic files if needed, but the above error appears to be discrete and isolated to this particular plugin, at least AFAICS. Thanks in advance for your troubleshooting efforts. Purrs -- Last edited by Ocelot; 19th November 2007 at 00:50. |

Format Converter Misbehaving Since Update of in_MP3
Winamp 5.5-Clean Install
Running in_mp3 most recent update Dell Dimension 3000 PC Pentium 4, 3.0GHz Processor 512MB Ram (Yeah, I know I should probably Buy More) Soundblaster Live 24-bit; Integrated Sound Can't seem to find the info for my video card. I often use the Format Converter plug-in to convert higher-bitrate MP3s to 128 KBPS so that I can store more of them on my iPod. In the past, this has always worked with no problem. However, ever since I installed the new version of in_mp3 (Update 3), I get the error message "Cannot find Decoder" on every track. This seems odd because as I'm setting up the parameters for the format converter, it's playing one of the tracks just fine. I'm considering doing a reinstall and not updating in_mp3.dll to see if it starts working again, but thought I should bring it up here in case there's a fix, or in case someone else is having the same problem. The exact error I get for each track is: Transcoding Fail... Cannot find decoder OK I had this happen once before in Winamp 5.36, but reinstalled it and the problem went away. I've installed no Third-party plugins. Thanks. |
