"Normalize" with specific replay gain value produces silence

If a file has calculated replay gain value of -8.66 dB as shown in the file info in Winamp, and on playback options Normalize is used as the method of applying gain, the file plays out in complete silence. Even the visualization shows no activity during playback.

I noticed this as one album did not play on Winamp and it had album gain of -8.66 dB. If I used the track gain as preferred source there was no problems. Also if I recalculated the album gain by leaving any track out of the calculations so that the final value would differ a little from -8.66 dB, there was no problem playing the files. Furthermore the mode "Apply gain" works without problems on these files; it seems to be just "Normalize" with this specific gain value that causes the playback to be as if the file was just complete silence.

Seen this on Winamp 5.601 and earlier 5.x versions.

interesting. just that exact value? not -8.65 or -8.67?

why use normalize tho? apply gain seems the more logical choice.

It used to be -8.65 dB originally, I guess the replay gain calculation algorithm has had some minor changes between Winamp versions since it now gave -8.66 dB, but the bug happened both times. So there appears to be a small "window" of values where it goes silent, but since I don't have any programs installed that I could use to manually force the replay gain values inside file metadata, I cannot test what would be the actual range or set of values that cause this to happen.

And I am using Apply Gain for some time now. But still a bug is a bug
