winamp 5.09 starting up slowly

I've Just installed winamp 5.09 and it show up right away but then frezzes for 40 seconds. The play list seems to take the time to load but then I hid the play list and still the same wait.

Amd 2600+ (Thoughbread) Asus A7N8X
512 Mem
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5600
Win2k sp2

Try updating (clean install) to the most recent version, 5.091.

There was an issue with a Online Media Check that could not be disabled. It searched for a channel list on startup, which could have been the source of your problem. 5.091 allows users to disable the check, which now occurs on exit.

If this doesn't help, post back with system specs.
