hTtP force to 'Now Playing'???
if someone wouldn't mind, could you please briefly explain what exactly this is, and why it was removed for 5.09?

Basically, it was a dirty trick which some 3rd-party stream providers used, to force the Now Playing view in the Media Library to go to a specific web site/page, even when "automatically switch to Now Playing" was disabled in the Prefs.

gotcha, thx!
another quick one i think: does a newer in_mp3.dll file or whatever (in 5.09) help me out if i use winamp/dsp/shoutcast to stream my radio station? we take the signal in through the soundcard input. There are better plugins for Line Input recording. Have a look in the plugins listing

guys, thx a lot for the responses but i think we're talking about different things. i'm not trying to record anything, i'm using winamp and the shoutcast dsp plugin to broadcast my radio station via the line input of the soundcard. (perhaps i should have posted my second question in the shoutcast forum)
but, if u happen to know, i'm still curious if a newer in_mp3.dll file or whatever (in 5.09) helps me out in terms of encoding quality and broadcasting? thx again! -mdw PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

Yes, you probably should post any questions about Shoutcast DSP in the Shoutcast forum. The Shoutcast DSP (with the included Lame_Enc) takes care of the encoding/transcoding, in_mp3 is just for decoding (playback).
5.09 was bugged to hell, and 5.091 is recommended instead. |

is 5.091 officially released yet? when i go to the player download, it still says 5.09 but the file itself looks like it might be 5.091
if 5.091 is officially out available for DL from the normal spot, thats what i'll grab. thx again. btw, i wasn't really asking about the dsp, i just wanted to know if these newer versions of winamps would help my stations SQ. i suppose i should go there and ask. i am also curious if winamp or the dsp does the encoding, and what mp3 algorhythm it uses. Read through the first post in the discussion on Winamp 5.091.
Yes, it's official, although the main page still shows 5.09 (date shows release on May 20, 2005). |
