Yum. Have you ever tried Kartoffelkloesse?

This is about close to the way I make them.

Excellent with sauerbraten or corned beef and cabbage.

Paella with chicken, shrimp, scallops, churizo, and various veggies and peppers. Needed to clean out some odds and ends from the deep freezer.

My last post was actually lunch, so I guess I didn't follow the rules of the thread. I hope that I've been a decent enough forum member that I won't be banned for it. I sincerely apologize and beg your forgiveness.

Dinner will be Pizza and beer. I spent all last night and all of today cleaning tons of fallen trees and broken tree limbs that went down because of the weight of heavy, sticky wet snow plus some wind, so I'm too tired to cook. Pizza and beer it is.

chinese stuffs, someone got herself a rice cooker as a x-mas gift to self thing, typical stir-fry stuff, the rice cooker worked pretty well too, except it has to be physically unplugged to shut off so some of the rice was a bit crunchy after a few hours since no one noticed that right away.

christmas dinner we had a fred meyer's flame crafted ham instead of the usual costco ham, was pretty good too i think, the main difference being the fred meyer's ham is blow torched to caramelize the brown sugar and stuff.

so it was ham, sweet potatoes and regular ones, some succotash stuff from trader joe's, some rolls that claimed to be sourdough (also from trader joe's) but turned out to be in reality a whole wheat deceiver, some fruit salad and a cheesecake.

cheap pizza, didn't even pay for it.... it's cheap because they are cheap on the tomato sauce, and the base is all chewy and fluffy, not like pizza at all, would rather make one from toasts

See now that is funny ... because I omitted it as well. Cilantro really does not add anything to a dish so I generally always leave it out. However, while I was at the store buying stuff I did not have I did buy the cilantro too just in case. Tasted the stew after it was done and thought there is no way I am ruining it by adding the cilantro.

I made killer sub sandwich. Fresh french bread. Dry Salami, pepperoni, turkey, various cheese including some horseradish flavored stuff, some Gouda, some pepper jack. I'd have to say it was pretty killer.

http://sushinmakior.com/sushi-hillsb...ushi-rolls.htm

It's Sushi night. I love these guys. I never tried surf clam nigiri before. I think I might be slightly allergic to it. That's what Benadryl is for I guess. It is quite tasty.

Got some red snapper and octopus nigiri, the hotategai and some miso. A couple state rolls. Some nice tea. Sushi always makes me feel ninja. I usually get some if I'm, like today, feeling a little peckish. Hint: If you smell fish in a sushi place, walk out.

Sushi can be painfully bad. Luckily I have one of the best places that ever was a half mile from me.

Yum.

I like to take and make salsa, or doctor some store bought with fresh cilantro, and add shrimp. Fresh tortilla chips. A little sour cream. Mmmm....

Tomorrow nights dinner. Porterhouse steak, Caesar salad and a spud.

lol edit for the win.

I guess my tastes have become refined enough, but I still haven't been able to bring myself to enjoy sushi. I don't see anything wrong with it for other people, just can't get used to the taste and texture.

Tonight I had an odd combination of sausage, mac & cheese, and nachos/salsa con queso. I'm not so sure I'll impress anyone with that list, but I was just pulling whatever random stuff I found to look good out after a long day of work.

One thing I miss about Oregon though is that I really liked the seafood that I ate there such as swordfish, scallops, tuna steaks, sea bass, and probably other things I'm forgetting. I haven't been out that way since July of 2008. I should go back.

You have an extra bedroom and an extra three dog houses?

Extra bedroom yes. 3 dog houses no. There is a good sized shed. That would make 10 dogs in the collective back yards of me and 3 neighbors. We just got everybody calmed down from the new neighbor who has a St. Bernard juvenile. What a pretty fella.

If you have ever had bad sushi, you'd never go back. Luckily, I was introduced to a good place first.

EDIT (for the win). If you don't like sushi, there probably is some stuff you'd like anyway. Try Tonkatsu. It's either chicken or pork in Panko batter, fried and served with sweet and sour sauce. It's hella good. Miso soup... everybody likes miso. The Japanese also are big on salads, grilled fish steaks etc.

My buddy was like you, but I talked him into lunch the other day. He did find palatable choices and enjoyed.

BTW- Don't drink cheap saki. It's piss. Buy the upgrade.

Chances are I haven't been introduced to even half decent sushi yet. Every time I've tried it, it's been at places where you can tell it's not really fresh, and I live far more than a thousand miles from any ocean. The shed will be fine. They get along (most of the time at least).

I made Chicken Fried Cube Steak for a Bud of mine. Made dredged in Cornstarch. (Lots of Onion, stock and capers in gravy) It came out quite well, although I tasted it, I didn't eat it.

I love garlic bread, but for some reason I get really upset when I run out, even if I've eaten far more than I should. Tonight I made some pizza from a ready-made crust (I added sauce cheese and toppings separately). Easy, good tasting, and good for a Friday.

I usually just boil a heart with some seasoning and slice it thin for lunch meat. It's best cold. I don't think it tastes anything like liver. I do like liver and onions.

If you make liver and onions, take a 1/2 inch of water in the pan. Boil it. Toss the liver in and stir it around for 30 seconds. Pour the water off and then fry it up with some bacon and onions. It makes the liver much milder. You might even cure people that "hate" liver, if you cook it right.
