Silence skipping to in_mp3, proper place there not in output

Silence skipping function needs to be in the input, because there it's not limited by the buffer length. Skipping silence is a function of the data input, silent data = skip it. Anywhere else, it becomes just an ugly kludge limited by buffer size.

Now it's only in Directsound output, which is a pretty funny place for it to be in. Use another output module and lose the ability to skip silence...haven't found a reliably working DSP plugin for that yet.

Request: DSP to skip silence

All it would need is a slider for silence level like in Directsound output plugin, nothing else (could be stacked with other DSP's with Multiple DSP plugin).

This would be a heavensend for all the people that cannot use the Directsound output plugin.

Of course the proper place for such a function would be in the input module, but it might take an average eternity to get Nullsoft to move it to in_mp3 from the Directsound output.

posts merged into the wishlist, the second post doesn't belong in the development forum as that's for developers and not wishes (as this is).
