Alrighty Chris, I did up the icons in the same fashion as the compact.bmp I posted before, but I also "dirtied up" the compact.bmp to make it fit better with my Winamp tray icon of choice, as seen below:



I attempted to "dirty up" the icons as well but it didn't look very good on them, so if you want to, you can keep the compact.bmp from before, whichever you feel matches/is better.

Nullsoft Tray Control Plugin is bundled with Winamp. Run the Winamp installer again and make sure you've checked it.

But yeah, It would be better, if the installer would provide a check, if gen_tray is present, hehe.

Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack v2.8 Beta available



Since there seems to be people, who tried that pack without the required gen_tray plugin, and I simply forgot to implemenet a check to the installer, I started working on the script again.

Download | Changelog:[/b]

- New installer graphics.
- made installer checks for installed gen_tray plugin, if no tray plugin was found, a message appears and installation will be aborted
- added Winamp version check, Tray control plugin requires at least Winamp v5.22 (big thanks to Pawel for making this possible)
- fixed a couple of formatting issues in license file (the NSIS .rtf reader is weird, hehe)

You guys still can send me icon packs, if you want.

tryed it and it was pretty weird, cause the background was mixed with the icons of the tray control

I have no idea, if the Tray Plugin is working under Windows 7 or or not. Fact is, if you have trouble with the icon pack, it must be an issue in the Tray Plugin then.

Winamp doesn't officially support Windows 7 yet and I'm not aware if the plugin is working or not. *shrugs*

Well, From what I've tried, the tray control does work in Windows 7, but not in compact mode. Compact mode also failed to work in Vista. There is something that changed between XP and Vista so that the compact mode no longer works, and Nullsoft has yet to fix it.

is hard to fix something when you don't know it isn't working and as i've not seen it mentioned before i've not looked into the issue (as the compact mode update for gen_tray was developed externally to begin with). will have to find some time i guess to see if this is a valid issue... as you've not provided much information to work against ie if Aero is enabled, location of the taskbar...

Sorry. Doesn't matter if Aero is enabled or not. Taskbar on the bottom of the screen per default. Tested on Vista Black 32-bit a copy of Vista Home Premium (also 32-bit), and Windows 7 RC 64-bit. The compact mode control appears, but clicking on it results in no action on the part of Winamp.

just had a try and confirmed - is most likely due to privelege changes in Vista/Win7 that prevent the hooking method used for Win2k/XP. am more surprised this is the first instance that i've seen anyone report it not working (guess it's not used that much by Vista/Win7 users, heh). just now to find time to confirm what is exactly happening and work on a patch...

i've just had a quick play around with things and i'm able to get it working under Vista64 (no idea about Vista32) though i need to properly set things up to work correctly between the Vista tweaks and the existing XP handling. will try to get a test build sorted out before the end of the week so i can get a patch passed onto the dev team to resolve the issue.

The icon pack installer is localizable now, I've attached an example language file, if someone wants to translate the installer. The language file is very small.

Nullsoft Tray Control Icon Pack 3.0 released

So here is a cumulative changelog since the last available version on Winamp.com:

- added 5 new, lovely icon packs from Pia Andersson (Vista Aero, Vista Black, Vista Blue, Vista Pink & Vista Red)
- added new installer graphics
- increased minimal required Winamp version (Tray icon pack requires at least Winamp 5.57)
- made installer automatically install Nullsoft Tray Control plugin, if it wasn't found on system, it won't be visible for people, who already have the plugin
- added a warning message, if Winamp couldn't be detected on system
- made configuration file (Nullsoft_Tray_Control_Icon_Pack.ini) is saved in same dir like winamp.ini
- fixed a bug, that uninstaller doesn't delete license file
- updated installer to NSIS 2.46 Unicode
- general installer code cleanup
- added our slogan to title of installer
- made it localizable (take a look at the posting above)
- more things I forgot over the months, hehe

I'll wait a few days, if someone send me a language file for it, otherwise it'll be submitted to Winamp.com.

Just a note, I haven't forgotten about it, but we have a new dev in the boat, who helps us to implement something great...something me and Darren promised years ago.

So the pack will get a major overhaul over the next weeks.

Yes it is true, the preview feature, we promised about years ago is now alive.

Sadly resubmit hasn't worked, so we have a new submit.

Along with tons of tweaks, there are 3 significant main features:

1. Some nice new icon packs from Pia Andersson.

2. Live preview for each icon pack, so simply install what you like:

Well, not working on Win7 SP1.

I installed it, but sad to say, the plug-in cannot "remember" what icon pack should be used. It displays only the default icons correctly.

How to get it working?

no offence to koopa's tool but a plug-in list from the link i posted was what was requested (mainly so plug-in versions can be checked which koopa's tool cannot do).

either way, the paths appear to be ok, so simplest option would be to post a copy of the '[Nullsoft Tray Control]' section from your winamp.ini once you've set things and then closed Winamp.

You can configure the plug-in directly via Winamp's prefs too. Preferences > Plug-ins > Nullsoft Notification Area Control

But note, that latest versions of the plug-in have a bug, you can select any icon pack and it will work, but it will always show 'Standard Icon Set' if you re-open the prefs.
