SO frustrated with winamp
yeah, I bought winamp, but maybe I should have tried it more first but there's really no decent alternatives
![]() I just want winamp to show the music I tell it to, I would think it would be easy. I want to remove a file from library, right click and there's no remove or delete. I set up watch folders and scan. but no. it shows all the music files in my music folder. I've completely removed all watched folders and rescan and it STILL shows all those files. I add a smart view and hope it listens to me saying not to watch any folders, NOPE everythings still all there. Why can't I simply ADD what I want and REMOVE what I don't want????? I don't want all this interaction of winamp choosing crap for me! is there seriously no way to do what I want? ![]() |

Hi Michelle911,
If you right click on a song in the lower panel of the media library (not the playlist editor) there are commands at the bottom of the context menu to remove the song from the library and to delete the song from your hard drive. In the General Preferences (Ctrl+P) Media Library - Local Media - Options tab there is a button (at the bottom of the tab) that you can left click that will remove all items from the Winamp media library without deleting them from your hard drive. Then you can use the Watch Folders tab to rebuild the library using the folders you select and left clicking the "Rescan now" button. what you say exists is totally absent from my version of winamp, being 5.63
I took a screen shot but unfortunately this forum doesn't allow upload of pics, and really, I'm a bit too frustrated to look for an image host at this point just to prove to you that I'm telling the truth. I have SET my watched folders. I've set them to exactly NO watched folders, and I would guess then that I should have no music when I rescan, but I do. I have every piece of music that's in my music folder. |

you can host your images at 4shared.com
no one is saying we don't believe you. what we are saying is you simply need to be shown how. its probably some small setting or pref or plugin and easily fixed. please post your images, and maybe they will clue us in. in addition, a "one for nunz" list would be smart to give us, and if it were me, i'd move all my music and so on to a folder like:

Another thing to check is that you didn't miss anything in the installer. It is possible to deselect too much sometimes. So if you really can't see any of this, it may be worth re-running the installer again and check everything is ticked. (Or let us know what isn't ticked and we'll confirm if it is important)

Hi Michelle911,
As to the following suggestion, "One for Nunz" is a plug-in that would generate a report of the Winamp configuration (listing what is installed), but it is no longer available. The "Winamp Info Tool" can be used to make a similar report. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=328932 Windows 10 Home 64-bit v20H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

The plugin isn't compatible with 5.7 and if I can remember correctly, the Winamp installer automatically deletes it, when it was detected. So it's correct, that it's not available.
Hopefully DrO will make it compatible with 5.7x someday ( hence I miss the 'Sort Plugins by name' feature) -Chris My Winamp Info Report | My Winamp Backup Log | My WACUP Info Report Own Projects: | Winamp Tray Control Icon Pack v3.5.3 | Winamp Backup Tool v3.6.0 | >> Winamp Info Tool v6.1.0 << | German Translations: | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei v5.66 | Offizielle Deutsche Winamp Sprachdatei Plus Version 5.666 Useful Winamp Plug-ins: | SNESAmp | 64th Note | NotSo FatSo | Highly Experimental PSF Player | Yar Matey! past tense is correct - i don't intend to fix it (at least anytime soon) and i have said it is not to be used - the only reason there is still a download was for 5.63 still being current and once 5.7 is out of beta, i will be pushing for the remaining installer to be removed.
there is a reason the 5.7 installer deletes the plug-in because it will cause issues (and that is not the point of what was a reporting tool that got above itself). this is why koopa's tool should be used for bug reports. |

just for clarity: i've been trying to help her; i knew, b/c she said, she had 5.63, and the 14N DL link is still active in the FAQ, as DrO said.
so, those are the facts. it would be helpful, to my efforts to help her, if she would provide it. PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

and i still recommend using koopa's tool irrespective of the version being used - it is friendlier to use and doesn't need to be installed into Winamp (which a lot of people don't want to do or cannot do if the install is buggered). which is why it's the only reporting tool we now recommend.

and as koopa himself pointed out to you in another thread, 14N is better at reporting than his own tool, as its more detailed. i see no reason for anyone using 5.63, which is still the current release, to not use 14N. if its no longer available, that is only as of today, as it was available yesterday. you had stated you were not going to get it taken down until 5.7 went official, and i merely took you at your word.
