this guy is not related to liam if that's what your getting at.

try to find a copy of top priority (one of his album)
it's pretty heavy music and the guy is one hell of a guitar player

btw - rory gallagher joined the great all stars band high up in the sky, he now is jamming together with jimmy hendrix

funny... cylob, you wouldn't touch some on that list a while back.. getting older and wiser.. (the turning point was a U2 track on your 80s compilation - you were heading the NME's "topple U2" campaign in 1999)

U who?????

Nice list Nick. A bit of prog-rock, some new wave, blues.... My collecting's all over the place at the minute. If only I could zero in on a genre (like Taylor).

I'm getting a 80GB HD on Friday (fill the mother in no time).

dEUS - "My Sister = My Clock"

this is apparantly the second dEUS album. Its listed in all the discographies as a normal release, but i cant find any tracks from it on the net. and its not listed in the order logs in australia. And you cant buy it online anymore.

Apparantly it came after "worst case senario" and before "in a bar under the sea", which really pisses me off, as these are my fav two albums.. so i think imust be missing out on somthing big.

Ok first, a couple of pointers for people my limited knowledge could help.

Eno => I have a significant numbers of CDs from him. However, I only own recordings belonging to his pure ambient phase (not the early rockier stuff). A most excellent starting point is "Apollo : Atmospheres and Soundtracks", surely the most accessible, then "On Land" and his superb collections of extra tracks called "The Shutov Assembly".
Then, you can move to the more classic stuff "Music for Airports", before tackling his conceptual one-piece albums : the marvelous "Thursday Afternoon" and the really sparse "Neroli".

Goldfrapp => Good choice Cylob. Goldfrapp is excellent, though their two studio releases are very different "Felt Mountain" is almost 'filmic' music while " Black Cherry" is more on the side of dancing electronica (with a new wave feeling much more than dance). Both albums are very good and Allison Goldfrapp is a very talented singer

Jarre => Sadly, Jarre's level has considerably dropped these last few years but the early stuff remains very valuable. Start with the 1st three albums " Oxygène", "Equinoxe" "Magnetic Fields" and by all means, get his fabulous "Concerts in China" live album. Then, other good records are "revolutions" and "Chronologie".

Bands I'd like to listen to :

Curve
Mandalay
Cocteau Twins
Slowdive
KLF
Elbow

and many more

Yer most people own that track, but I can see why. It's such a good song, but Led Zeppelin has so many other good songs, Dazed And Confused, Immigrant Song, Achellies last Stand, Kashmir just to name a few there.

And I forgot to add Silverchair to my want list, they remind me of Nirvana for some reason, so I like them.

Must be pretty special then. They probably don't exist in the northern hemisphere, unless of course you're lucky enough to net some tracks on p2p. I wouldn't fancy my chances, SoulSeek seems to have run aground (temporarily I hope)....

Your post has morphed..... I haven't yet got any of Elliott's albums, so I'm not one of those mourning. After hearing the music however I'll probably think 'what a fucking tragedy'. It'll be a sombre occasion.

arghh.. the 'ol editing after you read it trick.

mmm.. well.. elliott smith is definatly worth getting into. And im not just saying that cause he died.

As for augie march, theyr certainly not what id call hard rock. They are pretty damn weird in fact.

you get a song like "there is no such place", standard accoustic singer songwriter thingo.. amazing lyrics, incredible emotion.. all that stuff.

then you get somthing like "this train will be taking no passengers", which sounds a bit like the theme song to a western movie, only with someone ranting fast paced nonsence over the top.

then there is something like "heartbeat and sails", which sounds like old school flaming lips.

I found all three of these tracks on kazaa.

Speaking of p2p, have you noticed the limpness of SoulSeek recently?? It's so bad I'm actually thinking of using Kazaa again. It's not a good prospect.

But still better than putting hand in pocket for an old-fashioned disc.
