Just got it in the mail and I'm in love.

Half Cocked - The Last Star (2001)

I like it when allmusic agrees with me.

Quote:
Musically Halfcocked plays straight rock with strong punk undertones to create songs that are energetic and actually fun to listen to. It is not uncommon to come across a guitar solo straight out of the '70s on The Last Star, and that retro feel is strangely addictive. Halfcocked embodies what a true rock & roll band should be: flashy and over the top. The Last Star is an album that provides hours of entertainment, and any fan of '70s and '80s rock should find Halfcocked a delicious guilty pleasure.

Bah, I don't simply believe it. Next it'll be a proper Arab On Radar album, even an audible Deerhoof track...? I bet they walked across a parted Red Sea to the recording studio.

Flugroove - Like Brethren (2005)

Sort of, Arcade Fire meets Joy Division meets Underworld. I should've stuck with a sensible band like Polysics.

I know the feeling. Half Cocked look good, I need more rock & roll to impress the kids with, they tire of The Cult & Def Leppard.

(not)

The Jesus & Mary Chain - Barbed Wire Kisses

I never fully appreciated the sheer volume of the white noise, particularly on tracks like "Head". Let's put the cat on the speaker and see what happens.

Just bought these two from CD baby so they're in heavy rotation now.

Avoidance of Doubt - Science of the Mind

PAIL - Story of a Spacemonkey

+1 Indiecred. I love CD Baby.

I'm rotating these until something blows (either in my machine or head). Can't find adequate album art, thanks to Discogs putting a block on it. Tight gits...

Ada - Blondie (2004)

The 'shredless wonder' of the indie electronic/krautrock world (no clicks). Sounds like the smell of fresh bread? Perhaps that ought to be a genre.

Secret Shine - Greater Than God (1994)

By 'God', were they referring to Kevin Shields? The opening track, "Liquid Indigo" is a blatant rip off of "Only Shallow", the trouble is it's better.

"Why does it happen?"

Currently playing the Sarah Records discog on shuffle, 741 tracks in total. If I keep it going for a week I should have doubled my indie pop/c-86 collection.

(Posted mainly to get Cylob's opinion.)

I very much preferred Sound Dust and Margerine Eclipse, this one, well, when the first half was released as 7"es I thought they were just some less serious in-between tracks or maybe outtakes before the next proper album. As it turned out they were the next proper album (and the other half isn't better either).

Well, Margerine Eclipse took 10+ listens to crack, probably more than any album before it (by any band).

I played the new album a few times yesterday, I'll be hearing it for most of today, perhaps by midnight I'll have formed an opinion.

One thing that stood out is it's tighter than usual, reminds me (in a funny way) of New Order playing "Movement" live. I reckon it'd be quite interesting on stage...

Yet still in rotation (I love this cd)

Pail - Story of a Spacemonkey

A concept CD about a monkey we sent into space to perform research on, but who comes back with a nasty virus and wreaks the kind of havock only a monkey could.

Tegan & Sara - So Jealous (2004)

A nice album of mostly upbeat pop songs. The girls' voices take some getting used to but I don't mind them.

Nice bit of cut/copy/paste music (dat).

Xymox - Phoenix (1991)

Their most commercial album, sounding like The Happy Mondays on depressants.

Some good tunes to be found, if you're prepared to play the album more than 10 times in a row.

C&W won't do much for its lifespan, unless of course it's a cowboy at heart.

Wilderness - Wilderness (2005)

Took 'em 3 years to write, but as a bunch of 'extreme perfectionists' it was worth it. As AMG said, "This album never had a chance to be anything but good."

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

I ordered this with my latest shipment that included 2 copies of The Dark Side Of The Moon on vinyl (one for a Father's Day gift), and Tool's Undertow on vinyl. A steal at $5.99, this is five tracks of pure bliss.

Spiral out, my friend. You will find your way back to yourself, we all will.
I'll be waiting, and shall see you on the other side...

Some good drinking songs on here. I'd almost say this one qualifies for the Perfect Album's (no skip button required) thread as well.
