In here, we post metal.

I'll start with the Metal Gods themselves, Napalm Death.

I shoulda mentioned before, melvins and napalm death rule. Just wanted to toss in my support.

Anyway, my next contribution, a band that supported me through many finals weeks and other ordeals, the band that helped me realize that finding peace when peace is impossible is senseless and therefore I should find a way to enjoy the chaos and inhumanity...

Mortician.

Please use an extremely powerful stereo when listening, and adjust the volume to the point where distortion begins. If you damage your gear listening to this band, it died for a good cause.

Death metal for me. Asphyx, Sinister, Dismember and Therion from Europe, and Morbid Angel and Deicide from the USA.

Death metal, napalm death, mortician, cannibal corpse ... why is metal seemingly always associated with death and destruction? Why not some happy metal?

Bands with names like:

Hardcore Pretty Flowers

Love Thy Metal Neighbor

Living Steel Butterflies

Jammin Hello Kitty

...?

I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash.

Yet another band I rather enjoyed in those metal days; anyone remember Cradle of Filth? From what I've read, they've gotten big since I stopped getting new stuff. This album (Dusk and Her Embrace) was my first. I loved the fact that it was female black metal. It's not often you see the ladies join the fun.

Damnit man... Why the hell are there so many genres, subgenres, classifications, categories, and endless other ways to subdivide music? Grindcore? What the fuck is that? People ask me every now and then "What kind of music do you listen to?" My usual response includes "techno/electronic, rock/alternative, some metal, and a little dance music." Who the hell is going to say "Yeah man, I listen to grindcore." ?...

It's a way of people (bands, recording companies, listeners) trying to say they've created/played/listened to something completely new and different when all they've really done was alter a rather small part of something old and dying.

Sweedish metal more people should listen to
