Winamp Freezing Randomly

Hi All,

I am having a strange issue which I am not sure how to solve at this point in time.

Basically, I have Winamp connecting to a local on campus server, as well as an external server. Shoutcast is configured for two outputs and two encoders, one for internal and one for external.

Internal being at a more higher bit rate (128K) and external a little lower (96K).

The issue is that Winamp freezes at random times, for no apparent reason. The Winamp windows go "white" and become "Not-Responding" and of course we gotta start all over.

I am not sure why this is happening. The machine should be a Core 2 Duo system, with I think 2GB RAM, I would have to go look, running windows XP Pro (connected to a domain).

I do not know if it is because of streaming to multiple servers at the same time, but then again it has 4 "slots", so really it shouldn't be?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same exact issue !

Winamp 5.572 (Full) was completely removed, files deleted and re-installed with Nullsft SHOUTcast Source DSP V1.9.1.
No other DSP or plugins.

The server is there : 100Mb/s symetric bandwith.

We have enougth bandwith for the source 5Mb/s down stream, 1Mb/s upstream

Streaming using MP3 128k stereo

The machine is an HP D520 Using Windows XP Pro SP3 with latest patch and updates.
Pentium 4 2.66Ghz
Nvidia Quadro NVS
Integrated Soundmax sound card
DirectX 9.0c

What's wrong ?

This machine was used 8 months to stream to an icecast server using Oddcast V2 without a glitch.
We are now on shoutcast since 2 weeks and allready 7 freeze of winamp and Shoutcast source.

Thank you in advance ... I am getting crazy ...
