Default CD player
I've recently downloaded Winamp. It will play my mp3's OK. I want it for default CD player too. It opens when I insert CD, appears to play it, but there's no sound. Have previously used Real and Windows Media, and suspect that there's some conflict there that I can't find. Any ideas?

Download Winamp again and reinstall it. If Winamp3 doesn't work try with winamp2.81...

For WA 2.x, install the digital CDReader plugin.
Be sure to read the readme.txt which explains how to enable it by disabling the default analog in_cdda.dll plugin. The default analog plugin requires a cable connecting CD drive to soundcard. If this cable isn't present, then that's why you'll hear no audio. The CDReader plugin uses raw_read (Digital Audio Extraction) and reads directly from the CD, therefore it doesn't require the audio cable to be present. |
