Laggy winamp (errors after add-on installation)
Please don't ignore me I already tried searching for a solution on the IMPORTANT post ^_^
------ ------ Before I installed the Glow add-on... I just installed this Winamp (The free version not Pro) no other add-ons or anything! I changed the WinAmps icon with Resource Hacker too... When I was trying to open ANY file from ANYwhere it just froze the folder or Start Menu and stayed like that until it was opened (By frozen I mean I couldn't do ANYTHING with the folder... even close it) But there was no problem opening Winamp itself and then opening the song! ------ After I installed the add-on... The same issues but some more have been added (more errors :P) 1.Time opening Lags the folder and waits until it shows the "Invalid menu handle" error with no other information... (Just a simple error message with no title or ANYTHING else) 2.Time opening the same song (playlist) Opens easily with NO errors at all! It happens every time I have to open (or re-open) WinAmp! OS: Windows XP SP2 Please help! ^_^ |

the new version of winamp is really meant for win xp sp3
since you are using sp2 i recommend updateing to sp3 if this doent solve the issue try uninstalling winamp delete all winamp files (ones from app data in user profile and the winamp folder in program files) then reinstall fresh if that doesnt work there is another root cause on your system for the problem and we will have to dig deeper into what it is thanks rob (c)rob 2013 (picture & SN) (please note) As users we can't give others help unless we get full details of the problem that you are having |

the XP service pack shouldn't make any difference.
what concerns me is the editing of the winamp.exe and the error would appear to be a plug-in issue. so i would revert to the correct winamp.exe less icon changes (which can be done via an icon library pack in the next client release and resource hacking any dll is just evil). next i'd upload a copy of your plug-ins list (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins) as was in the post you've said you've read. then we can try to go from there though i'd guess it's a dodgy plug-in or something incompatible with a skin being used but as i'm having to guess on what your config is actually like this will take longer. -daz |
